Leadfingers has crossed the pond

Terry's plane landed in New York an hour or so ago and he'll be flying into DC late tonight, picking up his rental car and catching up on some sleep at a hotel in Alexandria, then driving down to Richmond the next day. I'll be working most of the time during the weekdays while he's here, but he'll have wheels, so any catters that want to get together with him can pm Leadfingers or me. We'll be gigging in Fredericksburg on May 26 and June 1st ( http://www.theblarney.net and we'll be at Pat Troy's Ireland's Own http://www.pattroysirishpub.com on Sunday, May 27th. If any 'Catters can make it to any of these gigs we'd love to see you. The food is reasonably priced, and very good, at both these places btw. We expect to be at the Washington Folk Festival on Sunday, June 3rd and will be looking for FSGW folks! If anybody knows of any sessions, concerts, etc. not too far from Richmond, let us know and I am sure Terry would like to see as many catters as possible!

I thought Terry might be making a one man attempt to reclaim the colonies.

It seems I am wrong.

Sock it to 'em Terry

Guest 3.48 was me
To Guest 12,23 I would say your remark about " recaliming the colonies" triggered an image that has had me smiling.
Imagine the conversation at the Ministry of Defence
Minister.." lets send an expedition tio recapture the Colonies and sort out this fella Bush, what do you suggest we send?"
Chief off the Imperial General staff " how about a small bearded scruffy looking banjo player? That should have them clamouring to rejoin the Empire"

He called late last night to let me know he'd landed in Washington - so I expect he'll show up at my place some time this afternoon, after a leisurely drive down Route 1. He has driven before over here, so I expect he knows which side of the road he's supposed to be on.....I'm sure he'll post tonight!

The jet stream was just south of us but I didn't see Terry, so he must have been sitting on the left side of the plane. Or flirting with a stew.

Terry-

Do consider dropping by the Mystic Sea Music Festival in Connecticut (check current thread for details) if you're heading into New England. You'd have a wonderful time, and there is ample opportunity for singing shanties and other sea songs after hours.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Well we had a good gig in Fredericksburg last night - there was a reasonable crowd even though it was a holiday weekend. We're looking forward to playing up at Pat Troy's Ireland's Own this weekend and seeing some 'Catters!

They both aquitted themselves in fine fashion, the crowd enjoyed them and an excellent time was had by all.

Yes, they had the inevitable requests for "Danny Boy" and "The Unicorn" but Terry didn't excuse himself from either, as threatened a few weeks ago, keeping his London Derrierre in place and playing along. He DID have to sing them Bill Caddick's Unicorn song, to show them how one should be written, though. Homages were paid, as well, to Spike Jones, Scott Joplin and Tom Lehrer in addition to the expected Irish fare. Mary sounded good enough to keep her welcome to continue to do gigs there forever for a man who prides himself on the quality of whom he hires. And she even got an English ballad in there.

They make a good team. Just think what they could do with real rehearsal time to work on it. They're both naturals and professionals and can piece it together anyway on the spot. They should continue to work together.

SO sorry we had to miss it. It was our son's 25th birthday. A couple we know threw a barbecue party for him & his crowd that didn't end until the young people left around 10pm to go to a movie (!).
