Have you seen this??? I simply can't stop watching it

There is also this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkhJpr2zR8s&mode=related&search=
which is a bit of a longer clip (partly duplicated) but lacking original soundtrack - very well put to music though.

The earlier clip seems to come from the 1920s, I would suggest - with the later clip being from the 30s.

Hard to imagine that they actually formed as a duo in 1917 - before the world went Egypt mad when Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered.

I never thought that I would have the chance to see such things, having missed music hall / variety / vaudeville. I am sooooo happy

What fun!! Brilliant! Thanks for posting the link.

For those who aren't familiar with the performers (like me across the pond) click here.

There was a long thread some time ago about the music used here. Sounds like Ballet Egyptien to me.

Jack Gil (whose children make up the Please Y'self Skiffle group in Matlock) used to have a Wilson betty and Kepple tribute act in the 1930's and 40's.

This month Jack released his first album under the name Basemant Jack, He is 82. On his Myspace there is a picture of him doing the sand dance, and trax from his album and details of his recent television appearances.

Jack is currently working on reviving his act as Wilson Kepple and Betty. He is looking for a pair of shorts that are really tight.

Send him an e-mail - I'm sure he will be pleased to hear from you.

I suspect the first clip is from the fifties. I used to see them regularly on BBC TV variety shows when I was a kid in the fifties, and they looked just like that.
Great stuff.
