Song or Music sessions in Chicago?

Subject: Song or Music sessions in Chicago?
From: Barb'ry

Hi all
My husband is coming over to Chicago from the UK on Thursday 31st May (allegedly to attend a conference..) until the following Tuesday. He sings (mostly traditional stuff) and plays concertina and wants to know if there are any sessions/clubs in the area that he can visit.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks
Barb'ry

Too bad he's not going to be here on a Wednesday, the Fox Valley Folklore Society has a song circle out in the Western burbs, about 50 miles from Chicago where he would be welcome. There's a couple Irish tune sessions on the weekend. Call The Abbey pub to see if they still do a Sunday night session, or Chief O'Niel's, I think they also do something on Sunday.

Lanigan's on the southside are doing a Sunday session...evenings. I believe Clancy's (also on southside) have started Sunday afternoon sessions again(if you go in either place..please tell them Eileen from Michigan/Dublin says hi).
