06 Jun 07 - 06:13 PM (#2070291) Subject: RE: the Johnson Girls at the Brooklyn Museum From: EBarnacle Were you upstairs or down? In general, the sound people they provide do not seem to understand balance or level, which makes the acoustics worse. |

06 Jun 07 - 06:38 PM (#2070304) Subject: RE: the Johnson Girls at the Brooklyn Museum From: GUEST Group was great as always but the acoustics made listening just painful. The Brooklyn Museum should be ashamed of themselves for showcasing a talented group like this in such a dismal aural setting. Sound broke up and no matter where you sat it was bad. Kudos to JG for being troupers thru it all. |

07 Jun 07 - 08:22 AM (#2070645) Subject: RE: the Johnson Girls at the Brooklyn Museum From: Joy Bennett we were in the Hall of the Americas on the entrance floor. We had been scheduled for the sculpture garden, but moved due to T-storms. The audience was great. Over the years we have performed in all kinds of situations. One that sticks in my head is in the midwest, we were doing a festival workshop and in the middle, a rock band started its sound check nearby. when you perform you need to know how to change courses in an instant. Modify, adapt, change, be flexible, roll with the punches, make lemonade. |

07 Jun 07 - 10:46 AM (#2070744) Subject: RE: the Johnson Girls at the Brooklyn Museum From: GUEST,Texas Guest Joy Bennett - shared a bill with you all down in Rockport, Texas, back in 2003 (me thinks!). You all and Geoff Kaufman were responsible for teaching me that I needn't have a guitar in my hands in order to sing a song - a lesson I have thanked you for many times along the road. The Johnson Girls always cross my mind in March at the time of the North Texas Irish Festival. Ireland is so tied to the sea and it would be great to get you all down here to perform. If you haven't contacted them, please do so. Yes, it's an Irish festival, but, every year there is a theme and in the last decade, "the sea" has not been featured - it's about time. Say, "Hello!" to the gang for me with hope that a fair wind always blows your way. Cheers. |

08 Jun 07 - 04:47 AM (#2071197) Subject: RE: the Johnson Girls at the Brooklyn Museum From: stallion Hi Joy, We were singing with the Shellbacks at the Holmfirth Festival a couple of weeks ago, we were in a pub full of noisy people and some started singing football chants midway though one of our songs, Ron restrained me , had I not had a plaster cast on my arm I think I would have had a go at booting them out, not really a good idea, they left anyway. Anyway one of life's rich pleasures, cope with it! Nice to hear you are all still doing a bit, miss you all Pete |

We absolutely love it when people share their experiences with us. I love instrumental accompaniment, but there is nothing like the naked voice. Glad you found it!! Joy |
