Christchurch (UK) Folk Festival

Can anyone remember exactly what year the 1st Christchurch Festival was?
I was reminded of it by the thread on the song The Mallard, that I first heard sung by George Deacon & Marian Ross at Christchurh at a song swap way back when?.
Malcolm Price was there too - is he still around?
Sadly, George has given up singing regularly, but now resides in the Oxford area, and still has a lot to do with John Clare and his work.

Tim - worth asking Alan White. I'll e-mail him.

George Deacon came to my school in the late 60s and talked about Alfred Williams' Songs of the Upper Thames.

1970 I believe was the first Christchurh

I will check, as I have all of Ted Huthinsons Scrap books and festival programmes for Christchurch and Sidmouth.

I answered the question about Christchurch Festival myself tonight.
I remembered that a friend sent me a copy of the 1972 BBC film they made about the festival (part of which I am singing with Helen Woodall in the Old George courtyard) - and it was the 3rd Festival so the title says - so 1970 was the first.
Alan white - who also appears in the film (we were on the same Morris team) was right.
