Thanks for the welcome, Chantey Ranger

Just a quick thank you to Chantey Ranger and others for making me welcome in San Francisco. I went there after being invited by a non-folkie friend, and although I remembered b4 I went that SF is an historic port, it never occurred to me to check in advance for singers via Mudcat. Fortunately Pete Chantey Ranger was working at the Maritime Historic Park on San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf (http://www.argonauthotel.com/argmari/) and I talked to him anyway :-)   Pete invited me to some forebitter singing on the Balclutha (http://www.nps.gov/safr/historyculture/balclutha.htm) and I managed to "get away" and join in. It was fantastic.

(Sadly I don't seem to know any forebitters. If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to ... learn some forebitters afore ye go.)

Thank you Pete Chantey Ranger and Sue (sorry I've lost your mudcat namae Sue) and everyone else for making me so welcome. A really memorable part of my short holiday - something to write home about, in fact ;-)

Thanks again and love to all,
Elizabeth

Elizabeth-

It is a mystical experience and Peter et al do a great job of keeping things moving along. It's a joy to experience what happens there.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Elmer Fudd alerted me to this thread. Good to meet you, Elizabeth, and I'm glad you enjoyed the afternoon Dogwatch aboard the Balclutha. Really enjoyed your rendition of "Herring's Head."

The other mudcatter you're thinking of who you met there was "Melani," who goes by "Sam" in her role during living History day at the park.

Best to you!

Chanteyranger

BTW Elizabeth, you ever gonna log in under your Mudcat name 'Lady Elizabeth'? So glad you managed to get some good 'folking' while you were away, even if you didn't manage to look before you leapt. Safe journey today (watch out for those roundabouts) & see you at Alcester!

ps. Chanteyranger & Melani, thanks for giving 'our girlie' a fantastic memory!!

Thanks for your replies, Pete and Hil

I've just registered myslef properly on Mudcat and as you can see I'm logged in. It said Lady Elizabeth didn't exist so I filled in all the boxes and added it.

Aha so the "Guest" messages that we thought had been "elved" came through after all!

There is a nautical Lady Elizabeth. Have a look at
