Otherwise you will get the answers Deckman gave from most of us who use this service. Use the lyrics and knowledge search box. Few of us are as kindly as Azizi. Hrrumpf! |

24 Jun 07 - 12:30 PM (#2085653) Subject: RE: lyrics to,'Cotton Eye Joe.' From: Sorcha As I said earlier in the Wreck of the 97 request....only around 10,000 sets of lyrics here....maybe more. Over 9,000 in the DT, who knows how many posted in threads? The Filter box, mid page on the RIGHT has a search for length of time on the drop down arrow. It searches for THREAD TITLES ONLY. If a word is IN a thread title, and you set the search for ALL, it should be found. I don't reccomend doing a LYR ADD for All tho. Could take days or hang up your computer. The thing to do FIRST is put the title or line from a song in the Lyrics and Knowledge search box, top LEFT....click search or enter/return. There is also a drop down menu of Alphabetical letters with titles filed that way too. If you put "@word" in the L & K box it will find stuff. That is double quote @sign then word of your choice then double quote--- such as "@child" I reccomend you muck about a bit in the Search functions. |
24 Jun 07 - 12:43 PM (#2085667) Subject: RE: lyrics to,'Cotton Eye Joe.' From: Ebbie Here are the lyrics as given in the DT. Cookster, at the upper left hand corner of the page is a box. The lowest window says 'DT Lyrics'. There is an alphabetized scroller, beginning with A. Scroll to C and click on 'Browse'. Go to C and go down the list to COTTON-EYED JOE Way back yonder a long time ago Daddy had a man called cotton-eyed joe Blew into town on a travelin' show Nobody danced like the Cotton eyed Joe. CHORUS: Cotton-eyed Joe, Cotton-eyed Joe where did you come from? Where did you go? Where did you come from? Where did you go? Where did you come from Cotton-eyed Joe? Mama's at the window Mama's at the door She can't see nothin' but the Cotton-eyed Joe Daddy held the fiddle, held the bow He beat the hell out of Cotton-eyed Joe Made himself a fiddle, Made himself a bow Made a little tune called the Cotton-Eyed Joe Hadn't oughta been For Cotton-eyed Joe I'da been married some forty years ago. Whenever there's a dance All the women want to go And they all want to dance with Cotton-Eyed Joe Daddy won't say But I think he know Whatever happened to Cotton-eyed Joe ! |
24 Jun 07 - 12:46 PM (#2085669) Subject: RE: lyrics to,'Cotton Eye Joe.' From: Deckman AH shucky darn! I was just trying to have a little fun! I suppose I pissed him off ... not the first time I've done that! Years ago I remember getting a late night phone call from a singer friend who was performing in a club in Chicago. He was on a short break, and called me to get the words to my version of "Warp & Reelin1." I started to jive him a little until I learned that he was being introduced for his next set and wanted the thrird verse RIGHT NOW! Bob |

You just beat me to posting. cookster, please don't get your knickers in a twist. We are a rather strange bunch sometimes, and it's difficult to get our tone of voice across in text only. |
