Old Songs Festival 2007

Any thoughts on the Old Songs Festival this past weekend? I think it gets better every year. I forgot how good Lou Killen is (hadn't seen him in awhile.} The Canadian song worhshop was great with The finest Kind, Arogant worms et.al. Pat Wictor's song about a wounded confederate soldier was the emotional highlight for me. Only problem-there are too many good things going on at once.

I really would love to make it one of these years!

A joe Clone could move everything from the Adventure postings of 22 June onward to this thread. Answer a lot of Muskrat's questions.

KT wasn't there,2 of the Woodchucks were not there, and the Shaw's were not there. I did enjoy those who Were there. I got to see my old pal, Sara Grey, and we had a small gathering at our campsite that consisted of the Meixners, Jeri, John Roberts, Pete and Joann Souza, Big Chuck and his pal, Sharon.
I got over served again, and talked too much.so it wasn't all bad.

Last, and most certainly not least were the Patons and Karen Kobela.

I thought Wictor's song, while a lovely piece, was contextually jarring, glorifying as it did a member of William Quantrill's gang of brutal cutthroats and following the Emma's Revolution set of peace songs. Ah, for art.

I went to Old Songs for the first time this year with a friend who has been going for many years. Because I didn't have "favorites" as such I made a point of going to a variety of different things.
I really enjoyed Les Girls, the Acadian group and Pat Wictor's workshop on Improvisation a lot. We camped onsite and I would definitely do this again next year!
