Jul 1st JULIAN DAWSON and ANDY ROBERTS £8 adv/ £9 door

Julian has visited TwickFolk before and we are pleased to welcome him back. He recorded two albums with folk-rock pioneers Plainsong and has also worked with everyone from Lucinda Williams to German avant garde rockers 'Can'. He is an established songwriter, vocalist and harmonica player and is tonight reunited with Andy Roberts for a rare duo gig.

Apart from the ground breaking Liverpool Scene, Plainsong, and an extremely productive solo career, guitarist extraordinaire Andy has played with The Scaffold, Roy Harper, Pink Floyd, Hank Wangford, Kevin Ayers, Grimms, done countless sessions for artists such as Richard Thompson, Maddy Prior and of course been a musical partner to Iain Matthews over a period of 30 years. He has written film scores, themes for TV series, backed Billy Connolly, provided music and voice for Spitting Image and continues to create musical backdrops for the poetry of Roger McGough.

We've just added to our MySpace site an interesting, never previously released (and rather good) version of 2003 vintage Plainsong live in the studio playing their version of Andy's wonderful song "Raider".

The line-up you hear is Iain Matthews, Andy Roberts, Julian Dawson and Mark Griffiths.

The song was originally released on Plainsong's legendary "In Search of Amelia Earhart" album back in 1972 (1973?) and was also the one the original band played live on the BBC's The Old Grey Whistle Test.
