BS: Happy Birthday Princess Diana!

Subject: BS: Happy Birthday Princess Diana!
From: Thomas the Rhymer

"At a dinner following the opera, she walked, alone, down a huge winding staircase without ever looking at her feet, so we knew she was a princess. But at dinner she ate like your sister, tearing into her meal with a kind of wanton delight, turning aside her lady-in-waiting's insistence that it was time to be leaving with the flat observation that dessert hadn't come yet."

James R. Gaines, former managing editor of People magazine

"In the 1980s, for instance, Aids was viewed as a modern-day plague. The Princess smashed taboos when, in 1987, opening an HIV ward at the Middlesex Hospital, she shook the hand of an Aids patient; and, what's more, did it without wearing gloves. It was a simple act by a 26-year-old woman that dominated the front pages around the world. And it genuinely made a difference to many millions."

I am no fan of the 'Royals', but she wasn't really one of them, anyway. I admired the good works she did. I do think she was a humanitarian, and I think she would have been regardless her connection to Britain's royalty.

I thought those two silly half-sibling sods wanted to be left in peace to mourn their mother in dignity, paparazzi-less, blah blah. So what do they do? Organise a whacking great pop concert to celebrate her 46th birthday (not 40th or 50th or any other significant landmark, but her 46th for Pete's sake!) with a line-up consisting of a bunch of Radio 2 staple has-beens, at which they're frequently to be seen gigging around and clapping for the world, literally, to see (mainly out of time) with their latest glamour-puss hangers-on. Well, good luck to 'em say I, and if they find the paparazzi scumbags hanging around a little more because of it all they'll know they have only themselves to blame. Cake, eat it, etc. ad nauseam.

It always amazes me that we set such high standards for "the Royals". They are no different, in many ways than the rest of us..married, divorced, ok kids, and so on. I must say that Diana was perhaps the most priviledged woman on earth, she did some high profile chairy stuff (Cameras along for the ride), then goes on National telly and washes the family laundry. Not a class act. I say just leave them all be. Most of us could not do any better in that fish bowl...that is why this thread is here ten years on.

Might have been more appropriate if they had arranged a stage walk-on part for each of her lovers.
Perhaps they could have come on as a chorus, with streamers of perished knicker-elastic.

Can you just let the dead rest in peace. This woman was a normal person, she was a divorcee and mother, there are lots of them out there.

She attached herself to good causes to create a good image after she slipped a little in her personal life.

Are you going to start a thread about Paris Hilton next ?

Call me Mr Curmudgeon, but let's face it, the royals came upon their huge, obscene wealth over the centuries by bleeding the poor bloody peasantry dry. All their big palaces, stately homes and vast estates (including "duchies," the one which Prince Charlie owns yielding a cool £15m last year), not to speak of their jewel-encrusted tiaras, fleets of Bentleys and royal yachts and trains (just the thing for driving into a siding and purportedly shagging Camilla in on the night before you marry Diana!) are ill-gotten gains. My heart surely bleeds when I see them so "graciously" patronising various charities. So I have a better idea. They should give most of their wealth to their beloved charities. Failing that, we should bloody well take it off 'em and give it to the charities. Their idea of doing good work for charity is to get people who are far less well-off than they are to cough up. Hey, and a large proportion of the population actually swallow that! :-D

When she married Prince Charles in 1981, Diana told the media she was a virgin, a status infamously tested by the Royal Family before they would allow the heir to the throne to step down the aisle, in her case she refused to take the test.

But by the time her marriage had disintegrated around her, Diana was already well adept at spreading her ... wings.

Until her final, passionate affair with Dodi Al Fayed, it appears that Diana was not interested in a long term link up but merely craved close human contact. "If I fall in love," she said, "the sparks will fly and god help us."

Ten men shared her bed that we know about, from a bodyguard to rugby star.

Prince Charles - big ears, big ego.

Barry Mannakee - body to body guard.
He was a trained police motorcyclist instructor and was killed off his bike on a straight road, yes right !

David Waterhouse - man in uniform.

James Gilbey - loyalty gets its reward.

James Hewitt - Di: "I adored him", young prince Harry not that keen on him !

Oliver Hoare - paints a nice picture.

William Carling - scrum down with rugby star, starred in that childrens cartoon, Pokeyourhighness or was it poccohuntus ?

Doctor Hasnar Khan - knew how to care for a woman.

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For Di.

Dodi Fayed - true love at last, no way was an Egyptian going to knock a kid out of her and the heir to the throne have a Muslim half brother.

The saintly image peace, the wailing people who hold her like a godness and buy plates with her picture on them for Sunday newspapers and drink their tea at break time from mugs they bought on a visit to London all go on about her as if she was Snow White.

She was as fond of it as any normal woman, only most guys that got involved ended up dead or broke.

Not a decent word from the lot of ya, go suck eggs.

If you were a prince or princess would you've been better than she, not likely with stingy opinions.

Barry, she was not a royal, she married into them and was stripped of the title (stripped of a lot of things).

She ran after good causes and charities for attention and slithered about looking up into the cameras with little girl lost eyes.

No doubt you feel MI5 didn't bump her off either, get a grip man.

I have no plates with her picture on them; no coffee mugs with her likeness. I do have some admiration for her and the good she did. And that she did good is not up for dispute. It is evident you didn't/don't care for her. OK. I won't even try to change your mind about that. However, it was because of her that AIDS awareness was increased and the disaster with landmines was brought to public attention. Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass WHY she did it. I am simply glad that she did do it.

And, you are all gonna tell me that NONE of this was in any way her husbands fault????? WHAT? WHAT?

Look, his long time mistress that he wasn't 'allowed' to marry called her The Mouse. Don't forget that the Horse insisted on 'vetting' all his 'candidates'. And he was finally 'allowed' to marry the horse.

The Mouse that roared. She did what she had to do to survive. She only wanted to be loved.....kept looking and looking and looking. I don't, can't, won't say that Dodi might have been the 'It'....but Charlie sure wasn't.

So, she did some things wrong....wouldn't YOU in her situation? Nothing but an unloved brood mare put in the spotlight.

I pity her sons. But at least Harry seems to have some back bone in him.

Priviliged? Yes. Monied? Yes. Royalty? No.
At least seemed to be sensitive to the Common Man? Big Time Yes. My god, she even actually HUGGED people! God forbid HRH should ever do that or even touch someone. Oh, wait...she must have 'touched' somebody to acquire children....she didn't actually raise them though. Turned em over to nannies and the like...make an appointment to see your Mum???? Give over.

Phillip the Greek that she was 'allowed' to marry for 'love'? I name him Discreet Philanderer.

Is it HER fault she was born beautiful? No.

IMO, in most ways, she did the best she could do with the hand she was dealt. Bite it, Charlie and Mum.

And ref the BD concert....her SONS are putting forth the music that SHE loved....so go bite yourself, buddy. Who actually gives a F!@#$K which birthday it would have been?

Bet you'd like to castrate Elton John too.

"Serial adulteress"? Sorry, but are we to infer that that her husband's having conducted an ongoing affair with just *one* woman confers some sort of morl superiority? Don't get me wrong, I was never virulently pro or con Diana OR Charles (as if either of them could be arsed to care what we think, anyway!), but fair is fair!

To my mind, the important thing is that she was by all accounts a loving mother; how can that ever be a bad thing? That her now adult sons sought to honour her memory by putting on a charity concert in her name seems a testament to the affection she inspired in them, and their recognition of the affection--regardless of what anyone may think of it in re: commemorative plates, mugs, etc--that she clearly inspired in others as well.

Why should anyone care who she slept with? Who can really say that they'd be 100% comfortable with having their personal lives examined under a microscope? She was human, for chrissake: flawed, weak, subject to heat and cold, apparently not the sharpest knife in the drawer in many ways, but hardly Medusa. The fact that she *did* use some of the media spotlight in which she lived to bring attention to worthy causes is laudable, regardless of what her motivation may or may not have been. I agree with the above post to the effect that her humanising influence on her sons may have a positive impact on how the British view the royal family that, no matter how the anti-monarchists may fulminate, they remain clearly attached to.

I'd also like to add that it's very easy to cast aspersions on people who have died, especially famous people who have been, as the Ghost in Hamlet puts it,

"Cut off even in the blossoms of [their] sin,
Unhousel'd, disappointed, unanel'd,
No reckoning made, but sent to [their] account
With all [their] imperfections on [their] head"

Who can say whether, had she lived, Diana might by this time have acquired an entirely new reputation as a good-will ambassador? She didn't get the chance, but instead had the misfortune to meet her end by the side of a dilettante playboy in the backseat of a luxury car with a drunken chauffeur. To my mind, that seems like punishment enough for whatever ill-considered choices she made, without continually digging her up to re-examine mistakes made in what for any remotely sensitive person would be *extremely* trying circumstances.

Barry, ref the off topic....yea you can swim in the ocean, but if you aren't a Citizen can you get health care?

I truly hope that Sicko hits the top. I'm FED UP with the supposed 'health care' system in this country.

I'm NOT a Dr, nor have I been to medical school, but I've paid attention for a LOT of years....and I ask questions of doctors that they'd rather not hear.

I TOLD you she was allergic to Demerol...so WHY did you give it to her IV???
You sutured without an anitbiotic scrub down???
You gave him WHAT for pain meds? Do you NOT know that will cause MORE bleeding????

Etc, ad nauseum.
I wish it weren't 'too late' for me to go to Med School. I'm too old, tired, angry, unhappy, etc.

Besides, I don't like blood.

I agree with the other post here, there was no way she was going to be allowed to marry a Muslim and risk giving the heir to the throne a half brother.

Seemingly there was a test done when Harry was younger. If it had proved negative the results would surely have been leaked to the media.

Major Hewitt had serious financial difficulties a few years back and close friends said they were amazed how quickly these disappeared and how his life turned around.

Stanley Accrington used to do a wicked parody of "The Boxer" in which Prince Charlie sang the lead. It ran into the chorus with...

"I married Di, di di di di di di di, di da di"
Etc.

Brilliant fun. He was actualy the first act I saw at Fylde Folk Festival the lunchtime after the news had broken of her demise and I thought to myself, "No - he can't, can he?" He didn't, but I asked him some time later if he was going to update it and he was very tempted.

"Dodi died, di di di di di di di, so did Di, di di di di di di di..."

Yep... not a good word to say about her when she was alive, not a bad one to say about her when she died.... people are so fickle.

I think I was the only person not watching her funeral on TV that Saturday. I know the doctor I rang to come and see my sick baby was, she couldn't even come and see my child in person but phoned a prescription through to a local pharmacy. I got put on "hold" for a few minutes (she put the phone down on the desk) and I could hear her commenting on the funeral cortege and the sound of her TV.

When I got to the pharmacy (having raced up the middle of the road - it was like a ghost town, on a Saturday morning!!), the staff there were more interested in watching Elton John than they were getting my baby's prescription. You're always sure of attention when you're dead.

I think Diana d been still alive if she d have a deal with Charles and was able to live as a separated normal woman. But Diana felt suisidically that the big tabu was just a muslim Fayed and unconciously arranged an love affair with him.

I think Morton secrect tapes were from the beginning meant to provoke her to separate from Charkles and all lead to the end we well know. Diana polluted herself with dirty muslim and lodgemen didi stone her towards a betong in Alma tunnel cause of that reason.

The car went around the Egyptian obelisque because it was an ancious symbol of The KIng bee healed (RamsesII) from the cancer Diana.

The Alma tunnel was selected cause all who die in it d bee in heaven staright.

And the Hospital Salpietre was an historically place for Rats who were mentally disturbed people and practically a prison at that time for them.

I think a baby was taken from her womb and lodge men put it in the bottle to burn it later in their sick rituals in Bohemian Grove or somewhere else to abolish an evil away from among them- dianas sins...

Diana was very innocent when she married Charles. By the way.

But: I think that Fiat Uno driver wasnt in tunnel for doing anything but just accidentally. He was maybe a farmer with big dog. But he saw what happened between a motorbike and mercedes and how did those men behave there. Fiat Uno driver was an innocent outsider which decided escape rapidly after all that.

But I am sure he just want to tell something sometimes ( if he was not eliminated afterwards).

Diana was murdered. They carried her round the Egyptien obelisque(which meant: The King Ramses II has been cured) to Alma tunnel( Which means: all who die in Alma ll be able to go to heaven)and none of 11 cameras was on at that moment at that night.

They carried her over 5 other hospitals to Salpietre ( Which was a place for mental ilnesses treated like Rats during its history) and so they humiliated her last time.

Maybe they took a baby too from her womb and put it to the bottle and needed it for later rituals( Which means: they used to burn a baby in Bohemian Grove Rituals)?

If you read   the Met Police raport about this case you will understand she was murdered. And Charles really got married with his Kangaroo as well!

People make your own surveillance and think, think! She was really worth of it. As every human being is. Murder is always a murder.

It doesn't really say a lot about some of the posters here that after all these years that they feel the need to spend time slagging a dead woman. The word parasite comes to mind.

Dear Wesley S
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful criticism.
I feel however, that "slagging" is innaccurate...
...what I was doing was "trivializing".
cheers
John

Not sure Wes.S was aiming his comment at you - or at you in particular - John. I thought that probably he had, like me, just finished reading through the entire thread, and this was his response to a number of the eulogies collectively .... Wesley?

...true enough; my egotistical assumption due to the proximity of the post.

...ah well... ...I always wanted to be a parasite.... ...sigh...

Well, Wesley put it bit more nicely than I was thinking. I am surprised at the vehemence and vitriol in this thread towards a woman who is dead and her family. If you don't like them, fine, but why expend so much energy on writing really hateful, ugly things? Seems a waste to me and it sure doesn't show anyone's "good" side.

john f - you were a baby weren't you? Ergo, you were a parasite. A foreign body taking nourishment and succour from a host, probably until the age of 4 or 5 yrs although there are some specimens that continue to live off the host for upwards of 40 years.

If anyone qualifies as a parasite it was the lady in question. She loved fame and fortune and her male admirers.

She dropped two kids to the royal family and secured her status in life, well so she thought.

The queen and prince Philip had little or no time for her. A fine judgement of character I'd say.

Kat was able to expound quite well on what I was thinking.I would just go on to add that some of our "guests" { and others }who have added to this thread most likely haven't done doodlysquat to make this world a better place. Diana at least was able to raise awareness on several important issues. HIV is one that comes to mind. Our "guest" posters have only raised our awareness on how easy it is to be a slimeball and a coward without a name.

Perhaps the only way that they are able to feel good about themselves and their sorry state in life is to drag others down to their own level? What they post reveals far more about their own character than it does about Diana's.

Rant over - the air is getting a little thin up on this soapbox.
