BS: Yarn Harlot?

Herself says that she seems to see a lot of overlap between Mudcat and a site she frequents run by someone who calls herself "the Yarn Harlot". So, fess up...who out there is stealing time away from the 'Cat?

I thought this was about MMario or Jacqui.

I saw the title of this thread and immediately thought it must be jacqui...

Hey! I'm *not* a harlot! I may be cheap, but I'm not easy!

Or is that the other way around, I get so confused.

Mmario - easy but not cheap is probably best.

The best patterns I use are relatively easy but the yarn costs.....

Did you ever make anything with that paper yarn we found in Hobbycraft??

I think of you every time I go past it now...

What overlap does she see? The harlot is blocked by my content filter.

Liz - it's still in the stash, just waiting. I've got about half a dozen projects to do with other yarn right now but it's nice having that cupboard full, just waiting for the right pattern.

yes-indeedy it is!

I must confess, while I do not visit the Harlot's site; I do hang around Men Who Knit, the knitting forum on Page By Page of Maui; Knitted Lace; the lace knitting list, goddessKnits shawl club, the Mystery shawl club, the Mystery Stole group, and when I can, Knitter's review.

But Mudcat is first!

I notice Hobbycraft is now selling 'Stitch and Bitch' - a pattern book for knitting groups, along with its sister publication 'Stitch and Bitch for Hookers' full of crochet patterns.

Almost makes me want to take up knitting again!

I don't knit - that caused Carpal Tunnel in both hands and I really don't want to risk that again. Crochet doesn't seem to be a problem though.

I like the idea of 'Stitch and Bitch for Hookers' - just what the thread title suggests as well!

Last week at a craft show I bought THE most yummy green yarn, fluffy with little flecks of tan and gold - only five balls because that's all that was left. It will probably become a wrap or shawl, I think there's enough.

So many projects, so little time.......roll on retirement......

Jennie - even in retirement there is never enough time for all the projects and to use all the yarn I've collected.

I am currently working through my backlog of partially finished items - most started when I was more slender. A plain green poloneck sweater ended up at Oxfam. A lacy linen cover-up I now trying to persuade myself looks intended to hang loosely and not meet. My sister gets it if I fail. Two lacy scarves in Twilleys very fine mohair in green and goldy brown random dye, one in crochet chains in a net pattern, one in broomstick crochet. A pair of purple gloves - I think I'm going to unpick them. I've lost my place in the pattern. Then I have some lovely new soft green cashmerey stuff to knit a sleeveless waistcoat in a lacey pattern.

Then I check the unstarted yarn stash.

i like to MAKE yarn by spinning fleece
but do not have the patience to make
anything with it after i have!
i will be going to an "olden days" re-enacament
event next month "disquised" as a spinner.

That would make you a spinster then... perhaps you and Jacqui could work out a deal? She could make stuff with the yarn you've spun, sell the results at another RE fair and buy Kendall a new set of chains with the proceeds.

open mike - what DO you do with the yarn you make? I've never got my hands on hand spun yarn, too expensive for me right now. If you had any going spare I could crochet a shawl for the Mudcat auction!

which reminds me - I have got to knit up the yarn Carly spun for a shawl for the FSGW
