As part of physical therapy, I had ultra-sound treatments done at the PT office, but now that I am no longer prescribed the PT sessions, I want to be able to continue the ultra-sound at home. I've looked at home use devices sold on the internet, specifically one from Canada, but I'm wondering if any of you have experience with purchasing and using one for home treatment. What cost, where did you get it? Thanks- a. |

Also looked for a vibrating pad-the size of a regular heating pad. My now retired chiropractor used this for my back pain. No need for adjustments. That alone helped. New chiropractor (have had 32 ajustments-not much success) My life is on hold. I brought up the vibrator pad & she immediately let me know that I felt better because of the placebo affect. This was BS - pure & simple. She said it's efficacy or safety has not been proven. More BS. She then suggested the laser-It did help a bit. But for some reason, she is hesitant to use it. I think she likes jerking people around! I'd love to have a laser set up here. Fingers crossed! Mickey191-F. |

The Orthopedic surgeon I work for often writes a prescription for home equipment to help defer the cost of the machinery (whatever isn't covered by insurance) but I don't know if that's an option where you are (I'm in the Northeast US). |

To help guarantee healthy infants the Chinese govenment sent medical workers throughout China with portable ultrasound equipment. Once women discovered that they could determine the sex of their baby and obtain a legal abortion if the sex was not male, they all wanted ultra sound. The government stepped in and banned the procedure for a while at least in the hinterlands. China is suffering from a severe shortage of marriageable women as a result of the one child policy and families' ability to choose a boy or simply get rid of a girl. Young girls and female infants are being kidnapped and sold to families to raise as brides for their sons. Some experts claim that the shortage of brides may actually trigger a revolution when poorer men are unable to marry and reproduce. Sorry for the drift. Anyone for a business venture? |

Doc Stefan basically put himself out of business because he was able to treat people for back trouble, etc. in one visit and didn't feel it was ethical to keep them coming back unnecessarily. |

However, the advice above to contact your physiotherapist would be the best course you could take. Therapists of all varieties are sent catalogues by the dozen from suppliers of medical equipment and it is probable that your practitioner could recomment a particular unit for you to purchase. Your orthopeadic consultant is unlikely to have had a great deal of experience in the use of ultrasound machines as he would refer a patient to a physiotherapist. Before spending a lot of money remember that professional operators of these machines undergo many hours of training. It is very easy to buy a car but it takes a lot longer to learn to drive! While over-manipulation is unlikely to be harmful, apart from to your bank balance, your chiropractor obviously has not treated the primary cause of your problem. A new eye might give new hope. The only reason I stick with her is that she helped rid me of very painful sciatic last year. My osteopath was of no help at all & recommended I see his Chiropractic partner. He would not adjust me-wanted me to for 8 wks. of physical therapy. I was in total agony-could hardly drive. Went to hospital-told they don't admit people just because they have pain. I was given 20 oxycodine (sp?) pills & sent home. This woman cured me in 3 sessions. So that is in my memory bank. But I think I'll have to give her up. I've been suffering for almost 4 months. Have an app't. for tomorrow. We shall see......... Thanks Friends. |
