I just bought for tonight. I have partially lost my voice, still, boohoo, (waits for cheers to die down...) so will probably be leaving the singing to Mr M and just concentrate on the plonking, this evening.Bit grumpy about that but will keep annoying my daughter with attempts to warble during the day. This was an attempt to keep the club running in the future. Unfortunately nobody came forward. So, I have to inform you that this Friday July 13th 2007, was the last night of Faldingworth Live. I would like to thank all the people who have helped me to run the club including the resident performers. They know who they are. I would also like to thank all the people who have supported the club over the years. I wish you all the best for the future. Les Worrall " Sincere thanks, Les, for all you have done with Market Rasen Folk Club and later Faldingworth Live. Thanks for putting up with all the abuse, particularly from certain MC's, with good grace and for all you have done for the artists, giving many a chance to get on the ladder. Fridays at Faldingworth will be sadly missed. The atmosphere at the end of the evening was one of mourning and yes, tears were shed. However, power to your elbow, Les, for sticking to your guns and putting your family first. You have made a lot of friends over the last 4 years and we will still be around. You don't get rid of us that easily. |

14 Jul 07 - 05:36 AM (#2102276) Subject: RE: Faldingworth Live Friday July 13th 2007 From: Rockhen It is now a few hours on from the shocking news re Faldingworth Live. It is a huge undertaking to run such a club and you have given your all, Villan. Thank you for all you have done and for your PM regarding last night. G was gracious and dignified as always, in the way that she let us know. I have made some wonderful friends, heard some great music, met some brilliant performers and thoroughly enjoyed playing with HK and WWW, there. Devastated that you had to make this difficult decision but understand that family and health must come first. A huge thank you, again, to you, Villan, and to all involved, who have supported the Club and those who have played there. I thoroughly enjoyed the music during last night. Big thanks to Stitherum, Fyrish and Steve Turner for their part in it. Villan, at least the club went out with a bang, not a whimper. |

I don't think I'd include the Walker Brothers in that list. Perhaps you're thinking of "Make It Easy On Yourself". "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" was another one of theirs. DC |

Like you have for a lot of others I guess, you gave Christine and I one of our very first full gigs. I'm sad that we won't be coming up to see you again in November, but as you and everyone else have said, some things are more important. Our nearest and dearest sometimes find that hard to believe, but I think something like this gives us all a reality check! You and the club will be sorely missed. You're both unique, and the better for it! I'm sure we'll keep in touch, here at least. All the best for the future. Our very warmest wishes go with you. Steve (and Christine) |
