Cant make it have to stay home and bath rats!
Well it was more than humans suffered in the floods
An of coure the bloody celebrity animal cleaners got all the cute animals to wash.
Bloody Bono and his Llama's
Bill Oddy bagged the badgers and the common shrews
Stillat least we are doing something to help.
Best of luck on friday I am sure it will be Brilliant!

Hear a great new Charity CD!

Just so that people are aware, the yellowbellies 2 CD which is still being sold, has now reached £600. I am hoping £1000 can be reached for such a wonderful charity (CLIC Sargent)

Friday will be an excellent evening as it always is. So here's hoping we get a good few people along again.

Mick and I have just returned from a very enjoyable jazz session and BBQ. Excellent on both counts and Les's organisation and friendliness was, as usual, wonderful.

How on earth do you manage to do the BBQ for such a small fee?

I wish you lot would stop mentioning crisps...I'm starving and trying to resist a particularly appealing 6 pack (of Potato-Head crisps, doh!) I just bought for tonight. I have partially lost my voice, still, boohoo, (waits for cheers to die down...) so will probably be leaving the singing to Mr M and just concentrate on the plonking, this evening.Bit grumpy about that but will keep annoying my daughter with attempts to warble during the day. (Not sure why but she suddenly turned her ipod up...hmmmm... Looking forward to the evening, anyway! :-)

Sympathy to Rockhen, my speaking voice is in a bad way after too much singing...yet I can still sing ok ?

"Earlier in the year I asked if people would be prepared to take on jobs that I currently do, as due to personal reasons, I will not be carrying on running the club.

This was an attempt to keep the club running in the future.

Unfortunately nobody came forward.

So, I have to inform you that this Friday July 13th 2007, was the last night of Faldingworth Live.

I would like to thank all the people who have helped me to run the club including the resident performers. They know who they are.

I would also like to thank all the people who have supported the club over the years.

I wish you all the best for the future.

Les Worrall "

Sincere thanks, Les, for all you have done with Market Rasen Folk Club and later Faldingworth Live. Thanks for putting up with all the abuse, particularly from certain MC's, with good grace and for all you have done for the artists, giving many a chance to get on the ladder.
Fridays at Faldingworth will be sadly missed. The atmosphere at the end of the evening was one of mourning and yes, tears were shed. However, power to your elbow, Les, for sticking to your guns and putting your family first. You have made a lot of friends over the last 4 years and we will still be around. You don't get rid of us that easily.

It is now a few hours on from the shocking news re Faldingworth Live. It is a huge undertaking to run such a club and you have given your all, Villan. Thank you for all you have done and for your PM regarding last night. G was gracious and dignified as always, in the way that she let us know. I have made some wonderful friends, heard some great music, met some brilliant performers and thoroughly enjoyed playing with HK and WWW, there. Devastated that you had to make this difficult decision but understand that family and health must come first. A huge thank you, again, to you, Villan, and to all involved, who have supported the Club and those who have played there. I thoroughly enjoyed the music during last night. Big thanks to Stitherum, Fyrish and Steve Turner for their part in it.
Villan, at least the club went out with a bang, not a whimper.

It was the Righteous Brothers who sang that song.

I've never been able to make Faldingworth Live as my Friday evenings are already booked up, but I have followed its progress with interest here on Mudcat. It's a shame that it can't continue but as you say, Les, some things are more important.

"Breaking up is hard to do" was by Neil Sedaka, although the Carpenters, amongst others, did record it as well. I don't think I'd include the Walker Brothers in that list.

Perhaps you're thinking of "Make It Easy On Yourself". "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" was another one of theirs.

Les, thanks for the personal note, but I thought I'd reply here to spread my appreciation for what you've done a bit wider.

Like you have for a lot of others I guess, you gave Christine and I one of our very first full gigs. I'm sad that we won't be coming up to see you again in November, but as you and everyone else have said, some things are more important. Our nearest and dearest sometimes find that hard to believe, but I think something like this gives us all a reality check!

You and the club will be sorely missed. You're both unique, and the better for it!

I'm sure we'll keep in touch, here at least.

All the best for the future.

Our very warmest wishes go with you.

Just to add our appreciation of all that Les has done for live music in Lincolnshire (and, no doubt, further afield).

We are grateful for the gigs and the pleasure of mingling with a great bunch of folkies in that unique environment that always seems to go hand-in-glove with live music events.

Good luck Les and all the best for the future. Thanks for all your hard work in both putting on the events and producing the two Yellowbelly CDs.

Take care
