BS: Poor Ol' Amos

11 Jul 07 - 09:13 AM (#2099715)
Subject: BS: Poor Ol' Amos
From: GUEST,The Giant Squid

Did you see this? That's poor old Amos. Used to hang around off the North Island, tryin' to make it with the ladies, cadgin' a few drinks from his friends. Many's the night we'd sit around a swap lies; he'd tell about the boats he'd pulled under and the whales he'd fought and I'd keep the glasses filled. Then somebody'd start a song and we'd sing "Squid Jiggin' Ground" and all the old favorites.

Poor ol' Amos. Gonna be CO-llected, DIS-ected, and put on DIS-play.

Why the DNA tests? Is he suspected of fathering Anna Nicole's Baby?

That's one big squid!

We may need to revive the old giant squid threads; there are some fine original verses embedded in them.

IT is important to note that the "poor ole Amos" discussed by the Guest who began this thread is not and never has been a member of the Mudcat. His keyboard kept shorting out.

Has the SPCS heard about this? Doesn't Amos ( the squid, not the Mudcat member*) deserve a decent burial and his remains treated with respect?

* NOT to imply that the Member Amos does NOT deserve having his remains trested with respect, but I believe ( correct me if I am wrong) that he is still using them ( the remains, that is).

I believe semantically they cannot be called remains if still employed by the original owner.

re·mains    (r-mnz) KEY

pl.n.

1.All that is left after other parts have been taken away, used up, or destroyed.
2.A corpse.
3.The unpublished writings of a deceased author.
4.Ancient ruins or fossils.

Might qualify for #4, though... And maybe even #1!

WYSIWYG -

Should we presume that you

1. have never been reincarnated

or

2. have a memory of all your past lives?

I am not, at the present time, a squid, to the best of my knowledge.

Poor critter. Cephalopods are one of the sad stories of evolution: great manipulative ability, fine eyesight, good brains - but with an unfortunate short lifespan, often related to their reproductive habits. They'll never live long enough to take over the world.

So once you've had your first hair-cut, what's left is "remains"...

another Amos
or maybe this?
or this?

"washed up on a beach"

"...was expected to be taken to the museum, where DNA and other scientific tests would be carried out before it is preserved "

That, my friends is a squaad....it is as past tense as they get.

"Cephalopods are one of the sad stories of evolution: great manipulative ability, fine eyesight, good brains - but with an unfortunate short lifespan, often related to their reproductive habits."

This all sounds uncomfortably familiar ...

- hence the importance of dealing properly with the remains: Who knows who will be next to wash up on some beach?

I think 'most' of the former cast members of Baywatch are washed up.....on and off the beach.

That squid was once a famous actor. He appeared in a number of films and played opposite Kirk Douglas in "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea", where he was said to have outdone James Mason in the charisma department.

He didn't just play opposite Kirk, but also around and behind him too.

At least not in a lab or museum.
