11 Jul 07 - 05:09 PM (#2100212) Subject: RE: Maggie Holland ' Bones ' CD From: The Borchester Echo The snapper was right. Maggie's site is http://www.maggieholland.com/. I have the CD here in front of me, it came in the post this morning straight from Weekend Beatnik Towers. It's beautifully produced with lots of notes and pics over the years and even one of Mr Harding (no, not that one, the gardener). There are 24 tracks taken from her solo albums over two decades and several on CD for the first time. It's not going to be far from my player for some weeks to come. |
11 Jul 07 - 05:18 PM (#2100220) Subject: RE: Maggie Holland ' Bones ' CD From: GUEST,M.Holland Yes, as of a couple of days ago the .com url now takes one straight to the .co.uk url, after a slight confusion in Weekend Beatnik Towers. Cllr, being an old timer bless 'im, had the original .co.uk one. And since cptsnapper modestly neglects to do so, I should point out that he sings some nice harmony vox on a couple of the tracks. Cheers Maggie |

12 Jul 07 - 11:33 AM (#2100705) Subject: RE: Maggie Holland ' Bones ' CD From: Captain Ginger Not arf - "A Place Called England" is one of the best songs of the past couple of decades, and makes Show of Hands' whinge sound like the dirge it is. Gorgeous songs, terrific musicianship and a great voice - this has to be a 'must have' CD. |

19 May 21 - 06:25 PM (#4106718) Subject: RE: Maggie Holland ' Bones ' CD From: StephenH When I first heard Maggie Holland's cd, "Getting There", I was a little underwhelmed (except for loving "A Place Called England" right away.) However, something about her made me listen again and I'm glad I did because she is now someone that I'm always happy to listen to. Besides her excellent musical ability, she has a careful, thoughtful approach to both her own songs and those she covers, which makes me stop and really listen to the song properly. 24 May 21 - 07:53 AM (#4107350) Subject: RE: Maggie Holland ' Bones ' CD From: MoorleyMan A timely moment, methinks, to post this request - I need digital copies of the 10 tracks from her first two solo releases (Still Pause and A Short Cut) which weren't comped for the Bones set and haven't appeared elsewhere on CD. Can any Catters help please? PM if so... |
