I won't be stewarding - I might be a tad busy elsewhere. Just thought I would tell you that we have 337 stewards so far. I could do with another 25 and then I think I can safely say we have enough. That's almost half the total number of people that attended the first Bridgnorth festival!!! I never dreamt we would need so many....

Thanks Fliss. You should be hearing from Sue who books the Morris Teams in a couple of weeks.

Blimey Muppitz - you get up early.
I can remember the last time you stewarded before Glen stole you and your Mum from us! See you are Warwick FF. Fingers and toes crossed for good weather.

Sandra have sent you email, Liz would love to steward.

Am getting the practice in at Festival at the Edge this weekend.

We have our own event in Jackfield next weekend... not folk but WWII reenactment at Maws Craft Centre.

Sandra, the time goes by EST I think not GMT, I don't EVER get up that early! I think it was somewhere around 11am when I posted that.
The last time I stewarded for you I ended up working for Glen as well, clearly a woman's work is never done!
I also got dumped that weekend and after getting blind drunk on the Friday night, spent the rest of the weekend with a monster hangover.
That was a very busy Bridgenorth for me!

It's not flooded at the mo - a minor or not so minor miracle. I will keep you posted....

Drove by early this morning, the river was high but certainly not flooding the showground. Drove by again on my way back in the late afternoon and the levels had dropped a little, it was still high but certainly not a flood threat.

Wot's latest on any unindations?

29 Jul 07 - 02:07 PM (#2114100)
Subject: RE: Shrewsbury:Anyone Stewarding?
From: GUEST,dictionary corner

not sure about unindations, but the latest on inundations is that the site is (and was) clear.

Shrewsbury escaped the floods with only a few of the lowest areas flooding, the festival blog suggests that the only issue is that one road to the site had standing water, but the site remained clean. Given the weekend we've just had, and a quick trip the Shrewsbury Council's webcam it looks like the river is back to normal.

Hope this helps.

I went over to the new Festival site on Tuesday for a survey/look-see with some of the other site stewards.
Easy access if coming from M54 direction and it will be signed from well out.
The site is brilliant, large, flat, good entrances exit and roadways.
There is good power distribution so there should't be the need for noisy generators all over the site.
There are loads of water points and proper plumbed in loos and several interesting buildings for singing sites and ad hoc happenings even if the sun doesn't shine non-stop(sunshine has been ordered though).
There is lots of room for future expansion as and when required and with the efforts and vision of Alan and Sandra this will surely happen.
If you are thinking of coming, stop thinking about it and book NOW before all the tickets are gone.
Most importantly--What a line-up.
We hope to see you all there.

Couldn't agree more, it's an exceptional line-up by anyone's standards and we can't wait for the festival, PLUS it looks like summer has arrived so all should be set for the best festival of the year. See you there!

It's only three weeks away - I honestly can't sleep, and when I do I wake up going over every item in the logistical plan for the event. The site is looking good and we are getting fantastic co-operation from the managers and workers at the West Mids Showground. We have a new sponsor: S P Holding Services Ltd who genuinly want to get involved with our festival and have a huge amount of plant which is being made available to us.

I have a feeling that our new festival home is going to work very well.

All the Best

Alan

Do stewards still pay normal ticket prices?

Reason I ask is that I noticed on the web site that new stewards get selected last but have to apply first. That I understand and have no problem with - question is though, if you apply and eventually don't get accepted as a steward you then are too late to buy the early cheaper rate tickets. Bit of a bummer I would have thought.

I ask purely as an academic question as I can't actually make the festival - stewarding or not - unfortunately. In fact the last time I made a Shrewsbury Festival was around 1991 - and I did steward then!

Hmm! Must try harder.

And can I ask Mr Happy whether you still meet in Chester on Wednesdays? I may be in town again mid April (on a Wednesday).

Answer for Jim or anyone else if wondering....

It would be an absolute miracle if I had enough stewards by 30th April. New applicants not accepted would be able to buy tickets at the special offer price which ends on the 1st April. So far I have 32 new stewards - all will be accepted but I won't be confirming that to individuals until early May.
