Need lyrics to song about friendship. Here are some sample lyrics-

If you're ever down a well, ring my bell, If you're ever up a tree call on me. If you ever lose your teeth when you're out to dine, You kin borrow mine-it's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship. When other friendships have been forgot, ours will still be hot- a razzle dazzle dazzle tweet tweet tweet. etc.

I have that on an old Dr. Demento tape from the 70's somewhere. May take me awhile to find it....

If no one posts it in the next few days I will look for it.

There's a Doctor Demento homepage; if they don't have the song listed, you could perhaps find it through them:

FRIENDSHIP
(Cole Porter)

M: If you're ever in a jam, here I am.
F: If you ever need a pal, I'm your gal.
M: If you ever feel so happy you land in jail, I'm your bail.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgot,
Ours will still be hot.

F: If you ever lose your way, came to May.
M: If you ever make a flop, call for Pop.
F: If you ever take a boat and get last at sea, write to me.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgit,
Ours will still be it.

F: If you ever catch on fire, send a wire.
M: If you ever lose your teeth and you're out to dine, borrow mine.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have ceased to jell,
Ours will still be swell.

F: If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
M: If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
F: If they ever put a bullet through your brain, I'll complain.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships go up in smoke,
Ours will still be oke.

M: If you ever lose your mind, I'll be kind.
F: If you ever lose your shirt, I'll be hurt.
M: If you're ever in a mill and get sawed in half, I won't laugh.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgate,
Ours will still be great.

F: If they ever hang you, Pard, send a card.
M: If they ever cut your throat, write a note.
F: If they ever make a cannibal stew of you, invite me too.
D: It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships are up the crick,
Ours will still be slick.

this used to be the theme song of the 'My Friend Irma" radio show in the 50s...starring Marie Wilson as Irma & Kathy Lewis as Jane...remember Prof. Kropotkin? I think Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis included them in their first movie...

FRIENDSHIP

Words and music by Cole Porter. Introduced by Ethel Merman and Bert Lahr in the Broadway musical "DuBarry was a Lady," 1939. Sung by Red Skelton, Gene Kelly, and Charles Walters in the 1943 film version. Also recorded by: Kay Kyser and His Orchestra; The Pied Pipers with Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra; Judy Garland and Johnny Mercer (1940); Ray Charles and Ricky Skaggs (1984); Ann Hampton Callaway and Liz Callaway (1996).

I refreshed this thread mainly because I wanted to post the version done by Homer & Jethro. This is one song that they didn't have to turn into a parody--it was funny enough to begin with. All they did was add spoken patter, which I have inserted in blue. In each verse, Homer sings, and Jethro speaks a reply, and sometimes there is an additional spoken reply by Homer indicated by "--". They both sing the chorus.

If you're ever in a jam, here I am.
Oh, thank you, Homer, boy.
If you're ever in a mess, S-O-S.
That spells "sozz," don't it? --Yep.
If you ever feel so happy, you land in jail, I'm your bail.
CHORUS: It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgot,
Ours will still be hot.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle dig, dig, dig.

If you're ever up a tree, just phone me.
I'll call you collect.
If you're ever down a well, ring my bell.
I'll wring your neck. --I wish you wouldn't.
If you ever lose your teeth, and you're out to dine, borrow mine.
All right.
CHORUS: It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgate,
Ours will still be great.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle, chuck, chuck, chuck.

If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
Oh, I'll do it. I'll be the first to do it.
If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
I'll be glad to get rid of him.
If they ever put a bullet through your brain, I'll complain.
CHORUS: It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgit,
Ours will still be it.
Lah-dle-ah-dle-ah-dle, hep, hep, hep.

That's from H&J's album of song hits from the 30's. I don't remember the exact title of the album. Also included were "three Little Fishies", "The Music Goes Round and Round", and other classics, all done more or less seriously. It deserves to be reissued.

It's also a part of the Cole Porter musical "Anything Goes", at least it's on the album made during a Broadway revival production.
