17 Jul 07 - 10:22 PM (#2105544) Subject: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Little Hawk Well, here we go again. I'm trying to set up some ads on Ebay to sell some hobby items. It all goes fine until I try to add some jpegs that are on my computer in "My Pictures". The Ebay program finds and recognizes the jpegs, no problem, and it attempts to load them...and attempts...and attempts...but never finishes. I've tried formatting the jpegs in different sizes, including the specific size that Ebay recommends. It makes no difference. They won't load into the ad, despite the fact that the Ebay program has no trouble finding them. What the heck is wrong here? Any ideas? |

17 Jul 07 - 10:41 PM (#2105551) Subject: RE: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Little Hawk I'm just trying it again. Trying to upload 2 pictures here. The Ebay menu says "uploading 1 of 2", and there's a little circular thing spinning around and around to show that...but it never finishes. |

17 Jul 07 - 10:58 PM (#2105569) Subject: RE: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Little Hawk Ummm...no, I don't think so, Stilly. You want the pictures right there in the ad, not a link that you go to from the ad to find the pictures. I can speak from experience on that as a buyer of hobby items, and I've observed how the other sellers set up their ads. Good photos that show up immediately are the first thing that attract buyers to look at an ad. Ebay charges me nothing for the first picture, they charge me 15 cents for each additional picture. 15 cents is not a problem. For most items I am selling, 2 pictures is enough. It's still going round and round... |

17 Jul 07 - 11:13 PM (#2105583) Subject: RE: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Little Hawk I've looked around on their tutorials, but I see nothing there that addresses this problem. I was selling stuff on Ebay a couple of years ago, and had no trouble attaching pictures then, but the system seems to be different now. It used to use an accessory FTP program to upload pictures. Now it just has this simple little menu...which isn't working for some reason. |

I host my extras on myopera.com only putting up the one freebie on ebay. There's a tab you can use to switch to html on their site which will let you put in links. It worked well enough for me. If I have time in the morning I'll try uploading a picture and see what happens and report back. Good luck, kat |

18 Jul 07 - 11:21 AM (#2105924) Subject: RE: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Little Hawk I got a reply from a friend who sells stuff on Ebay this morning. He says I'm doing everything right as far as he can see, so there's some other problem, and I should consult Ebay live help... I will try the advanced picture edit and see if that helps. The original attempt is still going round and round today and never resolving. |

From: Stilly River Sage Little Hawk, all of my photos display right there in my eBay ad, but they're parked at Photobucket. Send me your email address via PM and I'll send you the link to my current ad so you can see what I'm talking about. I can help you with the script if you want to do it this way. SRS |

18 Jul 07 - 01:34 PM (#2106049) Subject: RE: BS: Pics won't load on Ebay ad???? From: Stilly River Sage It has been sent. All of the photos in the boxed ad are actually posted at Photobucket. My html links back to there and is set up so the eBay ad draws on Photobucket for the images. One thing I've noticed is that eBay listing pages default to the advanced photo features when you're listing. That involves downloading eBay software before you can use it. If you want to just load your photo, use Basic. Advanced is for folks who don't know how to do it themselves and eBay charges you for the service. SRS |
