How about seeing who can guess the outcome of the final book? No cheating before you have read it please!
My Harry Potter predictions for book seven (Deathly Hallows):

Lupin and Tonks – both killed by Death Eaters.
Arthur, Percy and Bill Weasley all killed by Death Eaters.
Professor Trelawney emerges as a vicious spy and Death Eater.
Hagrid lives, is allowed to do magic again, but has to leave Hogwarts.
Professor McGonagall lives but retires from Hogwarts.
Harry Potter Survives, but is stripped of all magic powers. He ends up with either Ginny Weasley or Luna Lovegood, who also has an important role.
Lucius Malfoy is killed by Ron Weasley.
Draco Malfoy is either killed by Voldemort, or he survives.
Hermione does her usual heroics and ends up with Ron Weasley.
Ginny Weasley saves Harry Potter's life.
Nevile Longbottom kills Bellatrix Lestrange.
Let's hear your predictions!
See you when I get back from Hogwarts...

*Snape turns out to be Harry's real father...Harry is the result of a few too many butterbeers on Lillie's part.
*Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle open a law firm together.
*Harry ends up in jail, for "magicking" the books in his adult job as an accountant.
*Ginny Weasely becomes an exotic dancer.
*Ron is usually found at the Leaky Cauldron, passed out with a bottle of cheap wine in his hand.
*Hermione enters into a "relationship" with Professor McGonagall, as does Hagrid and Neville Longbottom.
*Seamus Kennedy becomes a politician.
*Draco's mother becomes fed up with her husband and turns him into a garden gnome, albeit an ugly one.
*Hogwarts itself reopens as part of the Eurodisney complex.

And Harry's last words in the book are, 'Gosh, so we've all got places at university. That's three more years together'
But really..
Dumbledore is not dead and returns to save the day,
Ginny and Harry get married
Snape is a goody and becomes Head of Hogwarts when Dumbledore retires.

It's curtains for Hagrid and Hermione.
Two of the most loved characters dying will leave kids sobbing all over the world.

Ron will be killed by a giant prawn!
At least that is what I was told last night by a bloke in the pub, so it must be true!

Harry and Snape gang up on Voldemort and kill him. Then they go off hand-in-hand and set up house together. All that sexual tension finally released...

Okay, If they aren't turned in KFW (Kentucky Fried Witch/Warlock - see other HP thread) - without having seen the book:-
Harry potter & Valdemort neutralise each other and, if not dead, cease to be 'magical'
Percy 'comes back to the fold' (from the ministry) and gets offed.
Weasly twins killed off
Agree that Lupin & Tonks get topped
Snape turns out to be a 'Double Agent' and is responsible for saving either HP or Hermione, dying in the process
Malfoy Jr and his oppos die (possobly at hands of Death Eaters), Malfoy Sr turns on Valdemort and is either killed or is captured by the 'potter' team and ends up in the nick, grieving for a lost child
Hermione and Ron end up as a couple.
Hagrid and the Giant bint from the French School provide a magical animal cavalry and end up running a magical safari park somwhere.

And I end up pulling all sorts of rubbish out of thin air to pad out this (particularly pointless) post ;-).

Fortunately, I know so little about the main characters that nothing that happens can have much impact on me.

I have seen one or two of the movies, but I never read the books.

Dudley and Voldemort kill each other. (I don't know how Dudley does it, I just assume he's too stupid to realize that he can't, so he does). Everyone is happy, even Horace and Petunia, since they earlier realized what everyone else already know, that D was a useless piece of crap. Flowers bloom where none had bloomed before, their sweet scents wafted by gentle zephyrs o'er sylvan glades and verdant hills. Everyone joins hands and sings "Kumbaya".

The sixth book is sitting on a table next to my bed. I read half and realized that I've had enough. I'm Pottered out. I'll wait for the movies. Go ahead and tell me how it ends. I just don't care anymore.

Steve - hoping I'm not putting a damper on this thread.

Well, okay.... Having some of Harry's blood in him, Harry merges with Voldemort and takes over as the Dark Lord. Hermione, Ginny, Cho, Tonks and all the other women in the books (except Aunt Petunia) make up Harry's Harem (which is also the name of the bordello he opens in Southern France) while he has all of the males neutered to work as harem guards. Harry eventually gains considerable weight and changes his name to Jabba the Hut.

Well, I sat and read the whole thing yesterdayafternnon and evening, only taking a break to go to the loo, eat and rake the lawn. This is definitley not a childrens book and I am going to have to re read the last few chapters again. So, om MOnday morning when my students ay 'Have you read the new Harry Potter?' I can say yes and have a decent last day of term conversation with them. Plus I have enjoyed them immensley

I've not looked at the other's as I don't want to possibly pick up a spoiler. Not sure if it's been said before but in the queue in the book shop I got the idea that Harry is a horcrux (unintentionally) created when Lily was murdered.

"...It's on sale in every supermarket in the US for $27 "while supplies last". I plan to borrow Jacqui's copy but will read the other books first..."

It appears that ASDA (UK Supermarket, part of the US Wal-Mart chain) has been selling the book for £5 (about US$10) - Apparently, my local had sold out by 2 pm yesterday.
Even the bookshops around my way are selling at £9 (~ US$18).

What's the nominal full retail price in the US?

$24 at Eckerd's Drugs and Stop and Shop, it's the first thing you see when you enter the stores. Unfortunately, I find it uncomfortable to hold a really large hardcover book when I'm reading, so I'll have to wait till it comes out in paperback.

I have to agree with RangerSteve - although the paperback isn't going to be much lighter.

Today I have RSI in my book holding hand again, due to reading HP&TDH yesterday.

$18 for Barnes & Nobles members... great book! I didn't read the predictions before, I was afraid I'd read something true.

Thought I knew who would die, and I was wrong, so it had a surprise ending for me!

No, I haven't bought this book yet and haven't read the above posts but I know what the ending should be:

Harry will lose his magical powers in the final climatic battle, and only have vague memories of his alternative life. However, that will be sufficient to inspire him to begin writing a fantasy series which will be a spectacular success, focused on the growth of a young lad who has latent magical powers. Unfortunately he will die at a relatively young age from an infected bruised elbow incured from signing hundreds of thousands of books.

Beware, take care! Success can have mortal consequences.

I'm only up to page 86. But ever since I saw that Voldemort could animate dead bodies I figured that he would have Harry parents raised from the dead so that Harry would have to fight them. We'll see if I'm right. I'd like to see Harry end up as the professor of the dark arts at Hogwarts. And on the side Harry would learn how to play the mandolin and start a group called The Hogwarts Mountain Boys. But I could be wrong.

When did Dumbledore die. Was it in book 6 or book7?

PS a hooray Henry is someone with more money than sense, who doesn't have to work, frequently from the upper/upper middle classes, who spends their life having a good time (i.e. shouting hooray!!), frequently making a nuisance of themselves and generally behaving like idiots.
