17 Apr 99 - 01:29 AM (#71507) Subject: Lyr Add: In Dreams^^ From: LEJ "I close my eyes, and drift away into the magic night- I softly say a silent prayer, as dreamers do I close my eyes and dream my dream of you. In dreams I walk with you- in dreams I talk with you In dreams you're mine all of the time We're together in dreams- But just before the dawn, I awake and find you gone I can't help it- I can't help it if I cry I remember when you said Goodbye It's too bad that all these things Can only happen in my dreams Only in dreams- in beautiful dreams." Roy Orbison wrote that for his wife after she died in a tragic accident in the early 1960s. I can't say whether it is the song or the ache in Roy's voice when he sings it, but I think it's my favorite song of lost love. |

If anyone is interestd, we do have the sheet music available for the songs of my brother's I listed above, sose ya' can hear the very beautiful tunes these words were written for. They've never been done in a folk style, but having sung them in concert, I can tell you I think they would lend themselves well to folk and they have always been well-received. There, blatant plug and nepotism to boot! Here are the lyrics.
EVENINGS IN CRYSTAL

Evenings of radiance, bright in the flame

KARMIC LOVER:

18 Apr 99 - 04:48 AM (#71712) Subject: RE: Songs of Lost Love From: bseed(charleskratz) Kris Kristopherson has several good ones: My favorites are "When I Loved Her," "Jodie and the Kid," and, of course "Me and Bobby McGee." Others are "Help Me Make It through the Night" and "Loving Her Was Easier." All of these were on his first two albums. Reba McEntire's "What Am I Gonna Do about You?" is another one (one of the better committee products you'll see--written by Doug Gilmore, Bob Simon, and Jim Allison--of course, it may just be Reba's interpretation that makes it seem so good.) I wonder--am I the Mudcat's only Reba McEntire fan? Another of her songs (by Harlan Howard and Chick Rains) is about a different kind of lost love: "Somebody Should Leave" is about a couple who stay together despite their love being painfully over because "You need the kids, and they need me." --seed |
