01 Aug 07 - 10:21 PM (#2117021) Subject: RE: BS: Anniversary for Mr & Mrs Burl From: GUEST,Art & Carol Thieme Roy and Elaine---A grand achievement! You've got ten more than we do. So I suspect you are ten years past where we are now. So where does that put you and us? You are at 100% of your adventure (so far)and we are only at 80% of that--for what it's worth. Just keep in mind that if you are half as happily married as we have been, then we are twice as happy as you are. ---- So much for damned lies and statistics---as Pete used to say!! "If it wasn't for time, we'd have to do everything all at once"---as I'm fond of saying! Congratulations--and love to you both!!!! Have many more!!! Art & Carol in Peru Say, did you get a small package from me lately?? I do hope so---'cause I think I sent you one. |

03 Aug 07 - 01:10 PM (#2118394) Subject: RE: BS: Anniversary for Mr & Mrs Burl From: Jerry Rasmussen Congratulations to you both!!!!!!!! What I want to know is; did you ride through Dover through the fields of clover on your golden wedding day? My parents always said that they would go for a drive in the country (not to Dovere, as there wasn't one within driving distance) on their golden wedding day. And they did.. except that they drove to New Glarus, in Wisconsin. And did Elaine wear an old gray bonnet with blue ribbons on it? May you blessed with great joy in your days.. Jerry |

04 Aug 07 - 10:15 AM (#2118980) Subject: RE: BS: Anniversary for Mr & Mrs Burl From: GUEST Hi Jerry, In answer to your questions, we really did drive through Dover a couple of weeks before the anniversary. Dover is a channel port town in Kent, a base for the cross-channel ferry to Europe. We went on a holiday to the Austrian Tirol, and very beautiful it was. And of course we went through Dover again on the way back. Elaine did not wear a grey bonnet, but a baseball cap with a flower on it, and looked very good in it. These really are our golden years. Thanks very much for the congratulations, it's great to hear from you. We still hope to make it to Derby,Conn.some day. R&E |

04 Aug 07 - 12:21 PM (#2119033) Subject: RE: BS: Anniversary for Mr & Mrs Burl From: RoyH (Burl) That 'guest' in the last message was me. I hadn't noticed that my cokie was out. We had a fine day, champagne for breakfast, dancing in the kitchen to 'the Anniversary Song', cards, flowers, presents, emails and Mudcat messages, and a romantic dinner for two. Tonight, a family dinner. Then onwards to the next 50 years. Burl and Elaine. |
