01 Aug 07 - 10:34 PM (#2117024) Subject: Anne Briggs CD re-release ???? From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker ..so whats the delaying 'issue' with the UK re-release of Anne Briggs - "The Time Has Come" for some years the deleted mid 90's Sony CD and Japanese CD releases have been available as very expensive ebay auction items.. then back around xmas 06, online CD shops were notifying of the impending remastered re-release.. I ordered one from HMV a few months ago.. only to be advised that release date is postponed.. However, I've recently purchased an easily obtainable US re-issue on the Sony BMG related 'Water' lable.. ..so whats the problem in the UK.. anything to do with the writer's credit for track 13 "Fine Horseman".. ????? |

02 Aug 07 - 07:38 AM (#2117280) Subject: RE: Anne Briggs CD re-release ???? From: Richard Bridge America does not have performers' rights the way we do. This is why Young Tradition material is (or was) usually only available from the USA. In that case the Peter Bellamy estate would not give the ncessary consent at English law. This may or may not be relevant to the Anne Briggs delay. |

From: The Borchester Echo I have all the YT recordings on a CD issued 10 years ago by Castle Communications in the UK, licensed from Transatlantic, though it's out of print now. I don't recall any Bellamy estate objections to that. I just asked Steve Ashley whose band Ragged Robin was involved in the recording of The Time Has Come. He doesn't know of any legal objections to the re-release and remarked that there were none the first time round. |

From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker errrmm.. i meant to say mid 90's 'CBS Legacy' CD.. but anyway, both US and UK re-releases seem to be tied into the international Sony Corp family of lables.. yeah.. after posting this.. i checked again.. and noticed the new 06/08/07 release date.. hmmm.. that'll be about the 4th or 5th date 'confirmed' since last xmas.. so only a week to wait 'n' see......... ..and for months theres been confusion if the UK CD is going to be 12 or 13 tracks... oh well.. at least it seems to be remastered to quite a good standard from origional master tapes.. |

Looking forward to replacing my CDr of The Time Has Come with a proper copy. Last time I looked the previous reissue was going for about £50. Cheers Nigel |
