09 Aug 07 - 04:46 PM (#2122708) Subject: Serial posters have turned me off From: GUEST,The Parting Glass I discovered Mudcat recently and initially enjoyed dipping into the various threads, especially those concerning the song tradition. But I've decided that I'm not going to register and hang on in here because there seem to be too many posters who regard this forum as their own personal empire. On virtually every thread the same names appear time and time again. Now some of what these serial posters say is sometimes relevant to a thread's subject, but sadly not always. For the most part they seem to be posting messages simply because they need to assert their presence (for whatever reason). The old adage of not opening your mouth until you have something worth saying has obviously passed them by and some become extraordinarily aggressive when challenged. I think they should get out more and so will I from now on. |

One was deleted because it was a personal attack on an individual, which is not allowed here. Yes, it's true that some posters are obnoxious. I think that's true almost everywhere. I'll allow you to speak your piece above, but close the thread to further discussion. I can't see where another discussion of the obnoxiousness of some posters is going to do any good.
