I was thinking of this one for anther thread but with my failing memory I was going to forget someone that was memorable..... Can anyone help me complete the list of artistes appearing?

This was for, what I think was a one off Festival, of all acoustic acts, but on the lines of the big rock festivals held at the time. It was held at Lincoln UK in 1969, 70 or 71... I wonder why I can't remember it better?

I suppose this is a bit of a long shot but there were a lot of people there after all, so there must be someone out there who can help. They will surely will never forget the toilets, which was a long trench, well I won't go into that now, but I nearly did then!

Sandy Denny Band
The Incredible String Band
The Byrds
Buffy St Marie
James Taylor
Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee
Dion

That list was in no order at all.

I think it was 1970 I went with three mates. I am still in touch with the one. We travelled up to Lincoln through the night and arrived very early in the morning I think it rained in the night but on arrival the sun came out I fell asleep on the grass and I can remember waking up to the sound of Crosby Stills and Nash on the our house on the PA it sounded fantastic it was the first time I had herd music of that type played loud over a PA in that atmosphere I will never forget it Fantstic. We travelled up from Shropshire.

It was a great day. I went principally to see the string band who were my favourite band at the time. Everyone who appeared was brilliant. I remember the programme was delayed because the crowd would not let James Taylor off the stage. It finished very late. Very good very good crowd.

My friend Keith saw the festival ads when we were on holiday in Scotland, bought tickets in Glasgow and headed home to Nottingham. We managed to arrive reasonably early and got a decent spot, festival was better than expected, obviously the Byrd’s were great but others just as good, Sandy Denny as good as ever, one person I remember was Buffy St Marie she just spoke as she thought and brought humor to the show noticing a couple making out in a sleeping bag near the front. It was a good weather day and what I will always remember was the gents toilets later in to the night, needing breathing apparatus.
Great Memories

I wonder what year I went. Probably much later. There was a beer festival on at the same time and a great local (I guess) band called Spot the Dog headed by red haired woman. (None of those classic acts listed above)

Spot the Dog emerged from the Brisbane folk scene in the early 1990s. After some early personnel changes the band settled into a line-up driven by Nadia Sunde's dynamic vocal versatility, Cathy Bell's lyrical fiddle playing and Mark Cryle's finely-crafted song writing.Aug 3, 2019

it was interesting - and slightly tragic- to compare the acts in 1972 and the event in 1999. you need to have been there in '72 i think

'Slightly tragic' is an understatement. The 1971 line-up looks fantastic but 1999 - a whole weekend listening to tribute bands? - No thanks!

For me it was the Byrds fantastic. Billed as acoustic but started with eight miles high.

Travelled by train from Swansea with mates, the Byrds were the only ones on stage that plugged in the electric guitars, Tom Paxton,Buffy Sainte-Marie, James Taylor. That's my faded memory of a great concert.
