15 Aug 07 - 04:20 PM (#2126345) Subject: BS: Wingwalk..UK.where can I do one? From: Georgiansilver Many of you know that I do charity work of one sort or another...firewalking etc....so I want to do a 'wingwalk' but am not sure who I contact to arrange one. If anyone knows of a company or individual who might facilitate this could you please either PM me or let me know on here. Thanks and Best wishes, Mike. |

Mike, be sure you remember the First Rule of Wing-Walking (also works for changing jobs): Don't let go with one hand until you've got a firm grip on something with the other! Don Firth (I get a nose-bleed just thinking about it!) |

15 Aug 07 - 07:54 PM (#2126495) Subject: RE: BS: Wingwalk..where can I do one? From: katlaughing Thanks, Cluin! I thought it was going to be from that movie where the airplane is loaded with the stoneworks of an old castle, being taken to the states and a gargoyle comes alive on the wing. Can't remember the name of it. Georgiansilver, here are a couple of links: wingwalking; HERE's their pdf info about what they can offer; and, HERE is one man's experience, apparently with Utterly Butterly, as mentioned above. Good luck and DO hang on! kat |
15 Aug 07 - 08:19 PM (#2126518) Subject: RE: BS: Wingwalk..where can I do one? From: Greg B Wingwalking on a Tiger Moth? Oh HELL no! You want a Stearman. You REALLY want a Stearman. On the other hand, I've flown a couple of Stearmans but never a Moth, Tiger or otherwise. For the pilot, the Moths must be more fun. |
16 Aug 07 - 02:51 AM (#2126718) Subject: RE: BS: Wingwalk..where can I do one? From: Georgiansilver Thanks for the info so far. It is actually quite frustrating as nothing has worked so far. I had already tried the Utterly Butterly (team Guinot) source but they do not allow money raising for charity. Any further suggestions will be welcomed....anyone any contacts? Best wishes, Mike. |

This reinforces for me once again that you cannot really guess anything about people from limited interaction on a forum. I would never have guessed Georgiansilver was into such daredevil activities - Maybe it's the handle, Georgiansilver, but I pictured you more as an antique collecting type with a nice little garden full of Hollyhocks! Good luck and do hang on! |
16 Aug 07 - 08:40 AM (#2126923) Subject: RE: BS: Wingwalk..where can I do one? From: Georgiansilver mmmmmmmm interesting....antique dealing/collecting is a hobby and I have a cabinet in a prestigious Antique Centre. Have done a couple of 'firewalks' over hot coals, bungeed, abseiled, been to Romania a few times, overland, with Humanitarian aid etc etc for charity and people tell me that at my age I should not be doing these things. I am enjoying my retirement!!!!!! My doctor told me I have the heart of a thirty year old but when I asked him if he could do anything about the body....well...... Best wishes, Mike. |

If she actually knew him, she'd realise what a ridiculous idea that is, and what an pillock she makes of herself in even suggesting it. BTW - he is in antiques! But his hollyhocks don't bear thinking about! LOL! S:0) |

"I am too 'big' to undertake such a flight as I would have to be under 13 stones weight..." Holy shite batman, that would mean that I have to lose 13 stones weight to be under 13 stones. Perhaps we can get use of the Spruce Goose for a short walkabout. that one Should hold us. Chip2447(the round one) P.S. Used to work with a little girl from Ireland who once asked me my weigh, in stones, she didn't quite get the concept of pounds. when I told her I weighed about 17 or 18 stones she nearly fell out of her seat. She claimed that no-one she knew in Ireland weighted that much. wonder what her reaction to 25 stones and a bit more today would be today. Chip2447) |
