We're going for the first time and don't really know what to expect. We met some great people in the Black Horse and Black Swan at Whitby and they easily persuaded us. We'll probably buy a season ticket and not use it as usual (it's a tradition we like to uphold!) but I will insist on seeing the Karine Polwart Trio and all the Saturday concerts. Where are the best sings in the pubs?
See you there. Kath and Bill

Hamish - tried to email you from Cairns International Airport earlier today (my "today" anyway) but got cut short by the timer. Just because I was in Oz didn't mean that I couldn't keep in touch with the 'Cat and the goings on back 'ome........

On my way back now, as you may have gathered - currently at Changi Airport, Singapore, with a 5 hour layover (?! behave!)before being Heathrow bound. I'll contact you again properly when I get back, complete with scarey photo!.

Back to topic, OK Dunc, you've twisted my arm - I've buy you a pint or three and then roll you in the direction of home! Hamish, I'll buy you a pint too and roll you in the direction of your tent!.

Not long now.......Steve, have you got the fine weather booked? We're all relying on you!.

Rumour has it that there will be pint or two available in the Red Lion. Particularly as there is a 3AM licence all (FF) weekend.

I quite like the 'tea and cake' gigs in the Methodist hall

Hi folks. This is a really great festival and I warmly recommend it to everyone. It has a very strong line up of artists for concerts and workshops etc and also, equally important in my opinion, a very strong 'fringe'. So there's lots of singarounds and musician sessions in the pubs etc ( I've always found The Manor, opposite The Civic centre, to be a brilliant venue for these, but there are other great venues as well)
Just a quick question: Are camping-only tickets available again this year and do you have to pick them up first at the Festival Office or can you pay at the campsite when you arrive?
Thanks.

A new campsite has been arranged.

It is on the other side of Otley from the usual campsite, on the river side of the A660 between Otley and the A65 junction. Here is a map http://tinyurl.com/3d45s9

The site will not have running water, so please bring plenty of drinking water and containers.

To: Guest Wheatman, I was wondering about that, because I used to live very close to the new site, and the area is on a hill on the north side of the town opposite Otley Chevin. I would guess that it is part of the Grammar School, in which case there will be levelled off areas. However, I do not know if they will be available for motor-caravans and caravans etc. Hopefully the website will give out more details SOON.

AFAIK the new campsite (field) will take tents, campers and caravans. We were looking for a site that would take everybody rather than have to have split sites.

Hopefully Yorkshire Water might come to the rescue re. running water.

The arrow in the original map was an artifact that only appeared when the link was followed.

I've done another map showing campsite location and festival office.

Festival Campsite

I was told by one of the organisers last night that there *should* be water available - Yorkshire Water are trying to sort out a tap from the mains. I'll post confirmation of this if I get an update.

There will be the usual shuttle buses to town all weekend.

Congrats indeed!

Please could folks spread the word to as many others (as many other forums etc) as poss - that'd help combat any 'it's off' vibe that may have filtered out.
I'm just about to put it on TalkAwhile, Longdogs, a myspace bulletin (which will only hit my signed up 'friends' - there are others out there with similar but diverse lists) and our own band's email list (once again - I know there are others out there with their own) - please spread the word.
Thanks - Duncan

Parking is ok in Otley - There are 8 carparks, most of which are free. Be careful if you park on a street though - check for parking restrictions - there are usually traffic wardens in town. Use the map link from a couple of posts up to view where the car parks are.

Well done to those who have sorted out an alternative campsite on the west side of town and running water etc. Stalwarts one and all!
The festival Office told me that this campsite is roughly the same distance from town as the one previously used on the east side of town and of course regular shuttle mini-buses will run between the campsite and the festival office. Good stuff. Well done folks!
