Tech: Woodsong guitars

Hello. Has anyone had any experience with these guitars? The website is
http://www.woodsongguitars.com
They are the manufacturer, and list much information on woods etc, used in building the guitars. A friend is looking at them, and I told him I'd check with the Mudcatters, as I know you all are deeply into the folk and acoustic music, and I have gotten song questions answered here before. Thanks for any help

I know nothing of the guitars but the odour of BS on the webpages is very nasty.....

Wood Song guitars do exist!! They are a sub-line of our company Gold Tone (goldtone.com) Paul Beard & I designed these instruments. To my knowledge, they are the only affordable pro guitar available with a lacquer finish and a bolt on neck,,,similar to Taylor..
They presently are available factory direct and will be debuted at 2008 winter NAMM..

I am not enthused by most modern bolt-on neck structures, but the old Hagstrom one was robust and semed not to rob too much tone. I suggest, Wayne, you take some of your guitars out where musicians can play them head-to-head with what you perceive to be the competition.

Richard, I'm not sure about the BS. There are plenty of decent instruments around that price point - Crafter/Art & Lutherie/Simon & Patrick/Seagull/Cort/Faith. Even low-end Martins. Having said that, I'd be deeply worried about buying an instrument where I couldn't try it first, nor even try another example of that manufacturer's work.

PBB, which one was your mate interested in? Tell him not to buy *anything* with a plywood top unless he's played it first - mostly they're cheap crap. As for the others, checking the guitar shops should find other stuff at equivalent prices which he can try before he buys.

Graham.

I bought one for a friend. It has great sound, is very
Light and is comfortable to play. 4 out of 5 stars!
