Hi all
Could any one name the tune (and the key) played by Sir J Galway on a Fox25 clip

http://www.myfoxboston.com/myfox/pages/InsideFox/Detail?contentId=1028631&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=5.2.1

Sorry don't know how to reduce the html address.

BTW the tune is in the last bit of the clip.

Alternative address to the clip is go to

http://www.nagaharaflutes.com/

and click on Watch JAmes Galway on Fox25 link

Heard that tune many times before but cannot recollect its name or source.. Is it played in the original key?
Best wishes
reb

I too know the tune, but can't remember it's name either -
However one thing I did note from the clip - The "Cheap" piece of wood he must have played (not on clip) earlier looked like a Chris Abele whistle - and They Are Not Cheap!!
They will set you back at least $500!!

Agree Abell whistles are not cheap, and he had one there, for sure.
However in comparison to the golden flutes perhaps they are.
and in comparisons to the pennywhistle they are very expensive indeed.
And the host missed completely the point. Sir James did not want to dwell on the issue...

First tune played on the golden flute was the Pink Panther theme (I expect you got that!) The second tune on his "regular" flute was the Brian Boru March, and was played in A minor. (I learned it in B minor from a book and play it on B/C button accordion)Check out Maurice Lennon's brilliant version of it also.

Hey
Thank you very much.
The tune has been haunting me for a while now...:-)
Enjoyed M Lennon's site as well, thanks
I would also suggest a nice rendition on harp that you can enjoy at
