Anybody help....I don't know the name of the song, but it was on a Dubliners cd..its starts..

For nearly forty years I've been a croppy Through drought and fires and floods I've lived through plenty My families tears and blood have worked this soil and mud But its nearly over now...now I'm easy...

(there about's !)

Many Thanks Colin Ballygally

Colin It is an Eric Bogle song called "Now I'm Easy" The word is cocky not croppy. A cocky was apparantly an Australian dirt farmer but I might be wrong Cheers Bill

Now that you know the title, Colin, you can find the song in the DT database. I agree with Bill and I think the term 'cocky' comes from the bird, the cockatoo.

Colin,

Listening to a Dubliners recording let alone looking for their lyrics? I'm shocked.

Now Don...just 'cause I ripped into ya about the Corries.. A good lot of Dubliners stuff is bad but Ronnie Drew has a great voice....See whenever I'm rich and famous (and pigs are gettng flight-path instructions from airport watch towers) then you'll know I was right. You'll be saying " See that group 'Snog The Rock'..eye the one that won all them awards...I use to know one'na them guy's.. eye..the talented one that sings and plays flute & whistle...DUCK, THERE'S A FLYING PIG.....sorry ...gotta bit carried away there.

I'll take it on the chin brother !!!!

Corries, Dubliners & Clancy Bros all have one thing in common..they were successful..and reguardless to the quality of the materail or musical ability it appealed to a lot of people..'from little acorns grow mighty things' Maybe now when your a long way down the road you look back and say ..that was crap..but I suppose in some strange way it fed all our intrests at the time, and started us all off on that road...But I think when you consider them against modern groups such as Four Men and A Dog..Patrick Street, or even going back to Planxty & the Both Band etc there is no comparrison..... ...... Here ends this Thrusday nights contemplations.

I'm away for a tune and a song... I'm falling into the trap of play one talk about twelve argue about twenty !

...Anybody wanna feed the flames of a good oul debate..... ..welt away !!!

Colin.

Ronnie had a great voice? Well maybe, but he 's no Sean McGowan now is he.
