Hi Mudcatters,
Does anyone have a recipe for sweet pickle. I want to make something at home, which tastes similar to Branston Pickle. Can anyone help me please?

MMario,

Try to find a copy of the cookbook by Gulielma Penn ( first wife of William Penn: Cookbook of family receipes from her grandmother, I think.) Reprinted ca. 1966, has a great receipe for pickles.

I'll see if I can copy it from my mother's copy, if you can't find one.

Benson, Evelyn Abraham. PENN FAMILY RECIPES: COOKING RECIPES OF WILLIAM PENN'S WIFE GULIELMA; WITH AN ACCOUNT OF THE LIFE OF GUILELMA MARIA SPRINGETT PENN, 1644-1694. George Shumway, 1966. 213p., illus., port., facsmims.

I think the pickles are number 147 in it...
