Brighton Taverners LPs now on CD

The Brighton Taverners started playing on the south-east folk circuit in the mid 70s. Their repertoire had many local connections and included songs from the Copper family as well as by (then) local songwriters Steve Knightley, Allan Taylor and Miles Wootton.

They have always acknowledged a great debt of gratitude to Paul Downes, Phil Beer and Steve Knightley, who all gave them advice & support as well as adding immeasurably to their albums as backing musicians.

During this period they released three albums which have now been remastered to CD-R.

I have that Lazy Afternoon album on vinyl. Paul Downes is listed as the producer on that and several of the songs also appear on his early solo albums.

I'm Looking Out For Number One and Sit You Down are certainly Steve Knightley songs. The best version of Sit You Down is the one from the DVD of the Show of Hands RAH show in 2001, where Paul Downes joined them on stage. I don't think Steve has ever Officially issued I'm Looking Out For Number One himself.
