16 Sep 07 - 01:52 PM (#2150533) Subject: Folk on the water, Beverley From: Graham and Jo 'Folk on the Water' event is on Saturday 13th October, 7pm to 10.30 (but may run on a little later). It is on board the Syntan, moored on Beverley Beck, by the crane, off waterside road. Funds are being raised towards the refit of Beverley Barge Preservation Society's new barge 'Sun' (nothing to do with the pub). Guests are Hissyfit, and 3/4 of Punch the Horse (Mick Andy and Jill), plus Stevie Rigsby. There will also be floorspots. Tickets are £7 and that includes a special souvenir t-shirt. It's a good idea to get a ticket in advance because space is limited. They are available from the Syntan (Beverley Beck) and there is normally someone about at the weekends. There is no bar but you can bring your own drinks and there is a Sommerfield around the corner if you have forgotten to bring any. |

21 Sep 07 - 06:09 AM (#2154131) Subject: RE: Folk on the water, Beverley From: GUEST,busbassed What a great idea, a floating concert room. We saw the Syntan on our last visit to Beverley but sadly it was closed so we couldn't get aboard. I think it's an old Humber Keel, there used to be one moored on the Thames at Greenwich and it was converted to a childrens bookshop. Great space below, I used to take our kids every weekend for a book and to watch the live entertainment they put on. I think there's another Keel being renovated at Ferriby and that's available for hire for gigs, it was once towed to Hull marina for a party I'm told. Best of luck with the venture, hope it becomes a regular event. |

23 Sep 07 - 07:57 AM (#2155534) Subject: RE: Folk on the water, Beverley From: Graham and Jo We think Humber Keels have sails. Comrade is a Humber Keel and that's often moored down at the lock end of Beverley Beck. Haven't seen it for a few months though. Will check what t-shirts are left over after 13th October. Sizes may be limited. Many thanks for the support. |

30 Sep 07 - 08:39 AM (#2160358) Subject: RE: Folk on the water, Beverley From: Graham and Jo Only 14 tickets left so it would be an idea to get them in advance rather than gambling on being able to get a ticket on the night. |

And thanks to Neville, without whome the Syntan could have ended up in pieces in a scrap yard. The t-shirts were printed by Print Point of Hull Ltd, which is a non-profit making community project, and they did a lovely job. There are some left over and I will check the sizes but they are mostly extra large which come up very big. Jo |
