Hi Unicorn Man - yep - our 'Robin Hood's Bay' is on the CD.
Sorry you never made it on the songalong bit!
The day came round suddenly - a gap in the studio's schedule - and a deadline that shot upon us real quick - I needed to get folks in a hurry
so....
I emailed the band's 'lists', posted on various forums (including this) - on our website and myspace - and various folks turned up and sand at short notice.
Sorry we missed you.
Solo album in progress - have to get you on that one then, eh?
All th' best - Duncan

Well, it was raining in Manchester, honest, until I read this thread. The sun is rising over Yorkshire as I type and it is The Duncan McFarlane Band.

I shall get this much awaited collection and anticipate much joy!

'various folks turned up and sand at short notice'

Mebbe appropriate for the Bay - but that shoulda been 'sang' not 'sand' - me numpty - Duncan

Cheers Les - send me email (addy via the website) with where to post it to - unless you're coming to Otley or Ingleton Fests that is!
Cheers! - Duncan

So I got my copies at Otley at the weekend and this CD is now firmly glued to the CD player!.

I may be just ever so slightly biased but to quote a respected folk man "it's f..king brilliant!" and I have to agree. (I think he said 'folking' but I may have to be corrected).

Les - get yer copy quickly, winter's coming and you'll need some sunshine over there in Manchester.

Ah, that old myth about rain? 7. 21 am in Chorlton and the sun is already cracking the flags. Birds of Paradise swoop past my window or are they Magpies landing on the palm trees? Very small yellow and black striped exotica fly into the roof or is that the wasps nest that was torched last week by the man from the council? As I sup my first Tequila Sunrise of the day I search for my beach gear and anticipate another day on the Costa Mersey.

On the other hand I have to get my gammy leg X-rayed today, bad shoulder clinic tomorrow and spotty face clinic next week. This damp weather does me joints no good at all!

Can you get a douse of The DMFB on the NHS?

I wish!!!!!! Except that the waiting time would be excrutiating.

The live band performance should carry a health warning too - it's good for you ;-).

Only 11 days to my next fix at Ingleton. Les, weather and gammy joints permitting, will you be there?

Hi Biz B P
Ah - so you were near enough to the fest patron to hear that were you?
No, he didn't say 'folkin' - but it's prob'ly best to sub that word in polite company.
Yep - he loved the CD launch concert.
That's really made my week/month/longer!

Les - email me if you want to buy one - addy on the website.
Don't know the website - google m' name.
Must get a lot of hits - name at top of search!
Or I might have time to fathom the blue clickies on here later.
Got CDs to post - busy, busy busy...

which brings me back to B B Paul...
erm, you never explained why Paul, Paul?
(in that you are, erm, a lady!)

All the best - Duncan

Hi HA,

You recovered from the post festival / CD launch blues yet?;-)

I must confess that I was sat right next to the Otley Festival Patron all through your set so I also heard him singing lustily at every opportunity. Still has a fine voice too!.

I'm surprised that after THAT tissues ad lib of yours you can call me a lady Dunc - I'm blushing at the thought!.

But to answer the big question:

Why Paul?. Blame the local press. They attributed a quotation regarding the first ever Gainsborough Folk Festival to "committee member Paul Speed". There was no Paul on t'committee and I, Deirdre Speed, was only a guest on the committee as I was Centre Manager at the Arts Centre venue where the festival was being held. So I got the blame and it kind of stuck.

Added benefit - most people find it easier to spell Paul rather than Deirdre - I can't understand why!

It can be a problem at Folk Club though - we have a proper Paul and 2 Paulines in addition to this pretend Paul. Shout "Paul" and you get a chorus of answers!. (Unless of course you shout "It's your round Paul!").

Hey Les, how come you sent the rain over this side of the country today?. You can knock that on the head right now!.

Deirdre

Well, we are a bit short of folk clubs and so on but other wise life is good here. Some of the bad yoof keep shooting each other which is not good especially when they shoot us instead of each other. But City are looking good and Coventry had the good sense to beat United, we saw Ian McMillan, Barnlsy's if not Yorkshire's, ney the country's finest Poet last night and we have tickets for the Imagined Village and Fairport do Dylan - we should have the chance to hear the words!

Cheers

Les

ps I lived in Leeds for a year - what a year 1927 I think - so I know what "Abroud" is like!

And many more sold at last evening's excellent gig at Ingleton. Ex-Servicemen's Club was packed and all enjoyed a brilliant evening of DMcF acoustic and electric band formats.

Nice to see Duncan playing lead guitar in the electric band for once too. Watch out Geoff!.
