Anyone going to NEFFA in Natick Mass this weekend? I'll be dancing at 11:30 tomorrow (Sat) in the courtyard; otherwise I'll be around. I know Sandy and Caroline Paton will be there. Who else?

Hi Allison, hopefully we'll meet this time, missed you at Old Songs (did get to see your car though). I'll be there after 6:00 pm Sat (practice for Sea Revels the whole day long). I'll be doing a workshop at around 12:00 on Sun. Afro-American Sea Shanties (Finn & Haddie). I'll be wearing my Mudcat Tee Shirt. Liam's Brother (Dan) will be doing a workshop on Irish Folk Songs later, on Sun. & Liam's sister-in-law will be doing a Shanty workshop as part of the Johnson Girls on Sat. afternoon, this one should be great (I don't think I'll be there in time "SOB"). Wally Macnow will be there doing a workshop, on Sat. afternoon. LaMarca, whose's been away from the Cat for a bit will be doing a worshop on Sat. afternoon & like you mentioned all the Patons will be everywhere. Have a great festival weekend, see you there. Barry

I'll be there too-- hope to get up late tonight, spend all too much $$ at the booths, and do a couple workshops with Drew Smith, Susan Sterngold & mike Resnick, the first called "string wind and reed jam" & second on the Carter Family if we can bring ourselves to arise by 11 AM Sunday, which is a good hour to sing gospel music anyway. Hope to meet some of you there! PETE

Ok, what was it?? Does it happen every year?? I just got back (about 24 hours later than planned, thanks to US Air) from DC, and it looks like something wonderful was happening in my neighborhood. GRRRRR to all airlines.

Susan, don't ya hate people who talk in acronyms and seem to think you should understand what they're talking about? It's like dealing with the U.S. Armed forces, or maybe the Catholic church...
A well-directed web search tells me that NEFFA stands for New England Folk Festival Association which is having a shindig this weekend without us. Sounds like they're having fun, doesn't it?

Sorry, Joe and Susan- we had talked about it not too long ago in another thread so I was trying to truncate for the 'cat's sake. susan, if you hurry there's still time to get there today!
I spent all day there yesterday in my usual frenzy if trying to get to *everything*- then finally settled for S & C Paton singing bee-you-tee-ful ballads, a fine workshop on harmony styles, a concert of the Johnson Girls (including Bonnie Milner, wife of Dan); the Mystic Seaport Chanteyfolk, where I met Barry Finn and Dan Milner, and so much more! They're all there today and I have family and other obligations so I can't be there- waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! Like all good festivals, NEFFA is a great place to experience heaven on earth- at least as far as music is concerned.
But the Old Songs Festival is getting closer every day...

Allison, I still have the feeling that you're gloating...
I sure would like to hear all those people sing. Can you ship 'em all to California?

A great time was had by all. Was great to finally meet you Allison (Animaterra) after missing you the last time. Didn't get to hear many Mudcatters, mostly because of differences in schedules but did meet most of them & what a fine bunch. What a great start to the festival season here in the Northeast US. Mystic's next. Barry
