I'd be curious to see the scoring rubric. There were a few questions that were difficult to answer. The one about there being two sides to every story, for instance. I think there are usually more than two sides so should I answer no? I think a no would be interpreted as me thinking there is only one true way to view an issue but maybe not. It's just too confusing. |

Either that, or a rather large pocket of air:^) Ebbie, what I most note is the caveat at the end of the article. I would expect song writers (a la Peace), and composers to be significantly more right-brained than left-brained. I would expect that the many musicians who do not 'create' their own lyrics and music (or at least, not much) to draw more evenly from both hemispheres. Think of the number of scientists, engineers and mathematicians who play musical instruments. Regarding mathematicians, the manipulation of hard data and arithmatic aspects of math are pretty exclusively in the domain of the left brain. However, the best and most brilliant of theorists in math and the many branches of physics also rely heavily on insight and intuition, which are firmly seated in the right brain. I'm an artist and I hate being organised. I don't think it's a very good test. Then, I don't think the 'right brain left brain' personality stuff is much more than nonsense. Yes the brain specialises, side to side, but I think it has little to do with personality or talent. |
