A Xmas card from Maglan (St. Helena Island)

I just had my first Xmas card. St Helena has only two mail ships a year. So if anyone wishes to send greetings add them here & I will send them on. I hope there is a mail ship before Christmas.
She is planning a trip back next year but no firm details. There have been several folkie visitors to the island, and he invites anyone. She is off to the Cape for a holiday - so maybe mail gets through via SA.

Ok - your turn.....

Sounds exciting. I don't know Maglan, but I wish her well and a happy holiday season!

All the best,

kat from Colorado

Yuletide Greetings Maglan.
What a beautiful place you choose live in.
Far, far from the 'mad' crowd indeed.
Hope that I get to meet you down the Music road.
Warmest Wishes for Yule,
Jude :)

Please wish Maglan all the best from me - and I hope, if she visits next year, that we will both manage to be in the same place at the same time at some point! I still have the video that Murray McLeod kindly sent me of the 1991 Theatre Bar singarounds, with shots of John and Maglan - and I hope Maglan still has the cassette I gave her of my album with MCP.

Let it shine!

Love

Kitty

I'm pretty sure St Helena has more than two boats a year - otherwise we wouldn't have heard from my brother in law so much. Ascension certainly has several flights a week thanks to UK Airlines (the RAF base).

All the same, it is advisable to post early for St H and Ascension, because if the weather is bad, the boat can't dock on either island.

If Maglan has children, they're probably being taught by my sister in law.

Grandchildren more like. In the UK.

Maglan wrote "Only two ships coming all the way now" from UK I am sure as it was in the context of visiting. Her card ws by air mail so it came via Ascension obviously. She reports doing house concerts and singarounds on the Island but misses the clubs and festivals here.

Maglan wrote thanking everyone - "How happy I was to receive all the e-mails (posts) and even from people I do not know. I cried I was so happy." She referred to a donation to their hospital raised by Annie Jones (Bromyard FF) & Bob Dovey.
Her trip to the Cape was barely worth it delays made it little more than a cruise. The boat apparently calls at the Cape, Ascension Island, Tristan da Cuna and in addition does the full UK trip twice a year, (mail fairly frequent). She invites any folkies to stay with her if they can spare the 6 weeks aboard ship - though it is quicker to fly to Ascension and sail the rest of the way.

She is "keeping all the e-mails (sic) to read them when she is a bit low"

There are plans for her to be in the UK this year - no other details.

PM me if anyone wants her address/telephone No.
