Do not miss hearing John in person. There is nothing to beat his warmth, intelligent presentation, and wealth of songs!

Yeah, I agree, he is excellent and a joy to spend time with, he was one of the "instigators" of the "late night sing" st last yeaars Getaway on the Sunday night and had a fund of interesting and bawdy songs to contribute, ask him about the "sloop John B"

Do not miss this and do not leave without a copy of Sea Fever, John's new CD. John is a joy to hear, a gentleman, a generous artist, a talented musician and...well, don't miss him.
By the way, he plays the banjo...well.

but "Keep your hands off him" & send him back home in good to better condition, he's gotta be in good shape so we can abuse him at the getaway.
Peter, you might ask him for "Yangste River Shanty" seeing as he does a pretty fair version of it, tell him I said so.

I'll go along with all the above. John is a consummate entertainer and quite easily weaves a spell over his audience. Don't miss his performance.

I second Barry's comment - send him back east in good condition, and in a timely manner, or else! :0)

Barry, Yangtze River Shanty is one of my favorites from his band's CD. I'll pass your message to him tonight.

As for sending him back East, I take no responsibilty for whatever accident might befall him, such as "losing" his plane ticket, or having a hypnotist convince him he's already home :-).

Just be careful he doesn't lose his balance, he sometimes gets in a tippling way when we're not around to keep him up & on the level.

John was great, no surprise there, and being the consumate professional that he is, nobody would have guessed that he wasn't well. Here's what happened: Salty Walt, who was helping me put away chairs, along with mudcatter Melani, mentioned that John said right afterwards that he was having a problem with his leg. I caught up with him and his host, plus mudcatter LindaM, as they were walking down the pier. He suspected it had to do with the flight affecting circulation. I checked his leg, which had some red streaks, and a red flag went off with me when John mentioned he felt shivers earlier. His symptoms matched mine of last December, when I had cellulitis! We urged him to get to emergency asap. He, his host/driver Betsy, and Linda took him to the hospital, and it turned out to be just that: cellulitis. Linda reported that they gave him oral antibiotics, and he was let go to do his house concert on Sunday. I'm in New York this week, so I have no further news. John, we hope all is on the mend. Keep us posted, eh?

Jaysus, John, when they say "break a leg!" they don't mean it literally!

All the best mate for a fast and full recovery.

Home again, home again, after a long crosss country red-eye. Taking antibiotics. Everything looks good. Quite sure we don't need my complete medical history up here.

But special thanks to Chanteyranger who was very solicitous in the prediagnosis, and who insisted I hit the emergency room, despite my protests. And a very civilized one too, at St. Francis Catholic Hospital, San Francisco. (Lucky I didn't need an abortion, though). They fixed me right up, with a big blue pill and a prescription for more.

Thank you Peter.

Looking forward now to seeing some of you at the Getaway.

I was there at the house concert on Sunday and had no idea that John was on a wooden leg. He was his usual talented, funny, friendly self and a treat to hear.

I suppose that they did have to take care of you over there - Barry was quite explicit in having them send you back in good condition.

Looking forward to a hug at the Getaway.
