Here's the words
RINGSEND ROSE
(Pete St. John)

In Dublin Town, there lives a girl
Fairer than the flower, I'm wearing
Rose Donohue, All fresh and new
And I love her past all caring

CHORUS
There she goes, My Ringsend Rose,
In God's garden there's none rarer
And there she goes, My Ringsend Rose
Dublin Town has seen none fairer

Sweet seventeen, my seamstress queen
She's no bigger than a thimble
Soft satin skin, street Arab's grin
Sure she makes the work look simple

Three yards of lace, to walk with grace
And the golden ring she's askin
The savings slow, Ah but still I know
That our love is everlasting

Regards Mick Bracken ^^

Rindend Rose

(C)In Dublin Town,There lived a (F)girl

Fairer (C)than, the flower I'm (G)wearing

(C)Rose Donahue, so fresh and (F)new,

And I (C)love her (G)past all (C)caring

(C)There she goes, my ringsend (F)rose In Gods (C)garden there's none (G) rarer There she (C)goes, my Ringsend (F)Rose Dublin (C) Town has (G)seen none (C)fairer

This is the way my band does it and usually coupled with another short tune, what ever fits the meter or how tired the dancers are.

Yes, it is a Pete St. John song. Brendan Grace does a great version.

Check the CD "19 Great Irish Songs" by Cahir O'Doherty or contact him at Inishowen, Inc., 2 Macon Way, St Cloud, FL 34769. I heard him sing it in a pub in Tampa several years ago (pub = 4 Green Acres or something)

Does any body know the tune Ringsend Rose written by Irishman Pete St John and recorded by The Dubliners. Also am I intersted in finding lyrics to "My Lovely Rose of Clare" too recordedby The Dubliners Regards Ulf Svensson in Sweden (Svenne)

The lyrics to "Ringsend Rose" have been posted in a previous thread, Svenne. Use the Mudcat Super search and they will turn up.
Incidentally, for any Mudcatters in Edinburgh who go to the singing sessions, does Charlie still sing "straight arrow thin" instead of" street arab's grin"? when he performs this song?
