Now that's a Nobel Prize I approve of. Pete Seeger has, for over 60 years, worked, sung and played for better understanding among people, and for the betterment of the human condition. This seems to me the ultimate aim of a peace prize.

Pete will be on Sound Check at wnyc.org at 2PM Eastern today. I am sure they will archive the show, also.

I have already posted my nomination. Pete has worked his whole life exposing the wrong and promoting the right. No one has worked harder for peace and brotherhood.
He was my first true folk music idol and still is.He (and the Weavers) turned me on to a lifetime love of folk music. God bless him.

Oh, well. I give up. I think this is the fourth thread today on the subject of Pete and the Nobel Peace Prize. I combined the others with existing threads.
I wonder why so many people are starting threads on this subject today - full moon?
Well, at least it's a nice thing to dream about.

I was suprised to learn recently that a number of the songs by popular artists in the 1960,s were actually written by Pete Seeger.

I think you mean "promoting right", not "promoting the right".

A prolific songwriter, including of many songs that have become folksongs.

"What did you learn in school" is still a goodie!

"What did you learn in school" was written by Tom Paxton.

Why undershoot for Mr. Seeger, seeing what the prize has become. I don't think the dynamite people know what peace is anymore.

Pete for President?
I could see the State of the Union becoming a massive singalong rocking the house chamber with "If you love your Uncle Sam, Bring 'em
home, Bring 'em home...". I'd tune in for a change.

There are folks like Tom Delay, Dick Army and Bill Crystal who would love to attack the nomination of Pete Seagar. They recently were served up a softball regarding a museum for Woodstock. McCain was able to hit that one out of the park.

ITs not about love of course but they* would be quick to point out that Pete was a commumist, a liberal and an anti war demonstrator. He was also great friends with Eleanor Roosevelt. He also helped clean up the Hudson River after General Electric ruined it with PCBs that have since spread pole to pole.
