I hate to ask, but if anyone could tell me how to write on wordperfect and cut and paste to the thread page I'd appreciate it much.

Chet

Oh, and also how can you send a thread item to the word processor. I tried once to send some lyrics that someone posted in a long thread so that I wouldn't have to print out the whole thing, and I was only able to get a part of it sent and I don't remember how I did that.

Thanks again, Chet W.

Wal, Chet mah frien', heres the die-recks for Win 95 and up types. Yawl know how to highlight somethin'? Like, put the cursor (thet lil black bouncin' line) at the beginnin of wha chew want, an hold that suckers button down, and drag it down to the bottom of whatcha want, and leggo, and shazam, you got it all in reverse, white with a blue background?
Kin yew do thet?
'K, can you see a word in any of your headers (up top of the page, usually) what sez "Edit"?
Tell you a secret. They's one on the right side of you mouse, sometimes. Try it, 'n see. Well, click on that puppy an this menu drops down. Click on "Copy". Then you can get outa Mudcat, off line, close these guys up, open up your word processor and then click on "Edit" agin and hit "Paste". Should drop that puppy right in there, ever'thin' what you highlighted.
An' you know, mah frien', yawl just might wanna run the tutorial, or buy or borry one of them eejit guides, or as they say in the trades, RTFM.
Blessings,
Barbara

Chet - what version of WordPerfect are you running? and DO you have windows 95? or are you on a lower platform? It may be you CAN'T transfer between programs, especially if you are running an older wordperfect....

I think Barbara is taking diction lessons from Shula.
If you have Windows 95 and enough RAM memory (I have 32 MB, which is more than enough), you should be able to have WordPerfect open at the same time you're online with Mudcat (and it should work the same way with MS Word or any Windows or Mac word processor). I just use my mouse to highlight the text, right-click and copy it, and then go to the word processor and start a new document, right-click and paste the lyrics into the word processor, and save. I don't think Mac's have that right-click thing, but copy-and-paste has always been easy with Mac computers. the whole process should take about 15 seconds, once you get used to it.
Same thing the other way around. You can copy-and-paste from a word processor into Mudcat, and you get the advantage of having a spellchecker to help you avoid looking stupid (well, for me and some others, it might take more than a spellchecker to accomplish that...)
Hope that helps. Don't give up until you have it mastered, Chet. You'll be amazed how much time it saves when you get the hang of it.

MMario, it's wordperfect 6.0

And Barbara, thanks for the dialect (and especially for the help). Couldn't have made heads nor tails without it.

Waterbound and can't get home down in South Carolina, Chet W.

that's true - IF he has win95 and a Windows version of WordPerfect. However, as I well know from doing computer support, there are still a LOT of people out there on Win3.x and a LOT of people using (gasp!) DOS versions of WordPerfect.

I HATE to RTFM - but I have also suffered the irritation of trying over and over and over to do something that WASN'T possible....such as cut and paste to a DOS version of WordPerfect from a windows application,...at the insistance of an "expert" when a few simple question/answer exchanges would have saved the frustration. What's even MORE annoying is when you PROVIDE the info...the "expert" ignores it, and much, much later comes out with something like...."Well why didn't you TELL me...."

If you can't run your favourite word processor and your browser at the same time (or like me, don't want to) just start up a small editor (I use Notepad) and paste stuff into that. Later you can get it into your word processor if you need to via cut and paste or importing the ascii file you saved from the editor.
