31 Oct 07 - 10:18 AM (#2183468) Subject: Happy 46th Birthday, Folk-Legacy From: karen k Happy 46th Birthday to my favorite folk music record company. Started in 1961, Sandy and Caroline Paton and the late Lee Haggerty have recorded and preserved a wealth of both source singers and interpreters of the folk tradition and their songs. Make Sandy's day. Visit the Folk-Legacy website today. Christmas is just around the corner. Folk-Legacy Records Much love, karen |

31 Oct 07 - 10:04 PM (#2183940) Subject: RE: Happy 46th Birthday, Folk-Legacy From: Deckman Sandy, This true story might put a smile upon your face. Your long time friend Don Firth and I sang a 54th year re-union concert in Seattle a few weeks ago. For one of his first solos, he told the story of sitting in the audience of the 1960 (I think) Berkeley Folk Festival, while you told the story behind the Electra recording of "Wild Mountain Thyme." Then, in honor of you, he sang the song as you prefered it to be recorded ... accapella. The acoustics in this very old church were superb, and as Don threw back his head and let the song just soar, I was thinking that you would have been pleased! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson |
31 Oct 07 - 11:54 PM (#2183991) Subject: RE: Happy 46th Birthday, Folk-Legacy From: Art Thieme As I've said in this forum, that first LP he made for Elektra Records surely did set an eye opening standard for me--in spite of Sandy's expressed feelings about it's worth. With every interaction between Sandy and myself through the years, his grand examples set the bar incrementally higher. Then, when he asked me to join him and Caroline and Lee in their Folk Legacy adventure, well, it simply felt like I was going home. What an honor that was. S. and C. --- one more time--THANK YOU and happy birthday!! Love, Art |

01 Nov 07 - 10:31 PM (#2184742) Subject: RE: Happy 46th Birthday, Folk-Legacy From: Sandy Paton Thanks, good people. Here's our love to all of you! Wish I could have been there to hear Don let go on Wild Mountain Thyme. Sure picked a winner with that one! Give him my best. Also wish we could be getting away at the Getaway this year. We'll be at Nomad, but next year the two events won't conflict, I'm told, so we'll have a shot at both. Stay well, my friends, and be reasonably contented. Sandy (and Caroline) |
