A parody on "Wimoweh" about Wolfowitz, Cheney, & Bush. It is the bonus track on Christine's latest CD.

In the White House, the bubbled White House
Decider sleeps alright
In the White House, the clueless White House
Decider sleeps alright.

Shiia village and Sunni village
No one sleeps tonight.
Kill the Shiia, blow up the Sunni
But Decider sleeps alright.

So wank away so wank away so wank away so wank away
So wank away so wank away so wank away so wank away
So wank away so wank away so wank away so wank away
So wank away so wank away so wank away so wank away

Hush my Johnny, don't worry Johnny
Your policy I will bite
I'll bomb the Shiia, I'll bomb the Sunni
And I'll sleep again tonight

It was by Brian Bauers & Christine Lavin. I have never heard it, so I don't know if the above are a parody of the parody or what.

I would suggest looking on YOUTUBE for it.

Over and out.

Most of it is just names of prominent members of the Bush administration. I think Dick Cheney, Condoleeza (sp?) Rice, Alberto Gonzalez all get a mention. I'll try to remember to give it a listen and report back tomorrow if no one else writes in in the meantime. It's anyway not nearly as complex as what Peace posted above.

Hi, Sol. I will try to transcribe them from Youtube tomorrow, but maybe Gerry will get to it first.

I don't see how Anyone can transcribe them from that video. There are bits and pieces that are clear, but so much is going on every moment that it's sort of a collage of sound. And, it's great.

From: Charlie Baum

From: http://www.davidvolk.com/rants/aubugles.shtml

The original version (c. 2004) by Mr. Whitekeys & The Fabulous Spamtones of Spenard, Anchorage, Alaska (which seems to be congruous with the version on Youtube featuring Muppet-like characters):

Bomb Iraq. Bomb Iraq. The cowboy’s back. The cowboy’s back.
Shock and awe, shock and awe. Avenge my pa. Avenge my pa.

We’ll fight the axis of evil. Bring it on.
We’ll drill for oil till the fossil fuels are gone.
In the White House, the whitey White House, the liar sleeps tonight.
In the Mideast, the oily Mideast, I’m gonna pick a fight.

I’m wingin’ it. I’m wingin’ it. I’m such a twit. I’m such a twit.
I’m wingin’ it. I’m wingin’ it. I’m such a twit. I’m such a twit.

No weapons of mass destruction can be found.
Haliburton’s certain there’s oil in the ground.
On your TV, the cable TV, the liar speaks tonight.
Deficits rise, no tax for rich guys. I never was too bright.

The Dixie Chicks, the Dixie Chicks, they’re crafty pricks, they’re crafty pricks.
The Dixie Chicks, the Dixie Chicks, they’re crafty pricks, they’re crafty pricks.

Cheney hides somewhere and tells me what to do.
Ashcroft looks for spies has his gall bladder removed.
Lots of people out of work. (I feel no pain).
The Frenchies think that he’s a jerk (and so does Spain).
He wore a flight suit on a boat (They let me steer)
Just to get another vote (I’ll buy the beer).

Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug.
Chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug, chug-a-lug.

Hush, my darling. The breadline’s forming, but we’re gonna fly to Mars.
Hush now, mama. Forget Osama, Kabul and Kandahar.

Hanging chad, hanging chad. Thank you, dad. Thank you, dad.
Hanging chad, hanging chad. Thank you, dad. Thank you, dad.

My brother made sure I won in Florida.
I went AWOL from the National Guard.
I got Colin Powell. I got Condoleezza.
Jesus supports me. Mel Gibson agrees-a.
When I was young I got a DUI.
But I got Uday and I got Qusay.
I got the axis of evil around the world.
The liberal media makes me hurl.
Eighty-seven billion was the bill.
Wait’ll we go after Kim Jong-il.

Bomb Iraq. Bomb Iraq. The cowboy’s back. The cowboy’s back.
Shock and awe, shock and awe. Avenge my pa. Avenge my pa.

In the White House, the whitey White House, the liar sleeps tonight.

In the White House, …

The Christine Lavin track is not what's on YouTube nor is it the version posted by Peace or Charlie Baum. As far as I can make out, the words are

A-Wolfowitz, a-Wolfowitz, a-Wolfowitz, a-Wolfowitz, ...

Alberto Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez, Alberto Gonzalez ...

Dick Cheney, Dick Cheney, Dick Cheney, Dick. ...

In the White House, the whiny White House, the liar sleeps tonight ...

Oo-oo-oo-oo, Condoleeza Rice and Karl Rove, Oo-oo-oo-oo, Condoleeza Rice and Karl Rove ...

but that doesn't really tell you what it sounds like, and I'm not up to constructing a representation of how to fit the notes and timing. Each line comes in after the previous one has been repeated a few times, using one or another of the riffs familiar from The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and once it's in each line continues pretty much to the end of the track, just going to the background when the next line comes in. I think you have to hear it to get the picture.

There are some other useful tracks on the CD. I played The Most Polite City In The World on my radio program last Saturday.

It's truly fascinating to see the many variants of this parody. It's truly a folksong.
