May Day children's books, stories

I have a friend who is creating a May day ritual at her Unitarian church this Sunday and she asked me about any May day children's books or stories she could read as part of the event. She's especially interested in may pole and waking up the earth rituals, but is getting pretty desperate. I knew someone here must know of something she could use!
Thanks

Allison

Hi, Allison,

Does she have access to the Spiral Dance by Starhawk? If so, she could glean somethings from the rituals in there. Basically when we do a maypole, we sing and dance int he circle aorund the tree, while twinging the ribbons tighter and tighter. It really gets fun to weave them in and out with half of the people going one way and the others going widdershins. We also always include fresh fruit, breads and fruit drinks to symbolize the "fruits" of the seeds to be planted this time of year. But I am sure you know most of this already.

I just did a quick check of my books and none have stories etc. for children. I do remember making little woven baskets out of construction paper in school and having a pansy or some other little plant to take home in it as a symbol of the coming harvest o'plenty. If I find anything else, I'll post it.
