Subject: Does anyone recognize those Lyrics?
From: GUEST,Guest

Does anyone happen to recognize those Lyrics and perhaps

know the name of this older CHRISTMAS SONG... or the Artist?

"...sing jingle, jingle, jingle and kiss me good-night,
sing jingle, jingle, jingle and hold me so tight......
icicles on the window and snow on the ground,
sing jingle jingle jingle 'til Santa comes 'round......"

Thank you

The words sound like the song may be from a musical or a movie.

Probably 'Ting-a-ling-a-jingle' (aka Christmas Lullaby) by the Ames Brothers, but I am unable to find the actual lyrics to confirm.

ASCAP says TING-A-LING-A-JINGLE was written by Vaughn Horton.

Definitely an old Ames Bros. song.

'Sing ting a ling a jingle and hold me so tight,
sing ting a ling a jingle and kiss me goodnight.
Icicles on the window and snow on the groud,
sing ting a ling a jingle till Santa comes 'round.'

My Dad had the LP when I was a kid...can't locate the original album, but it's on the 'Together' compilation album....available on Amazon I believe.

That sound clip from Karen Kaleolani Keawehawai'i has a verse as well as what I think is the chorus:

On the night before Christmas when Santa is near,
All the children to dreamland will soon disappear,
But there's one little darlin' that won't close an eye
Till you call for the sandman with this lullaby:

Sing ting-a-ling-a-jingle and hold me so tight.
Sing ting-a-ling-a-jingle and kiss me goodnight.
Icicles on the window and snow on the ground,
Sing ting-a-ling-a-jingle till Santa comes 'round.

She sings this on her album "Have a Merry Karen Christmas," where she uses the title SING TING A LING A JINGLE. The Ames Brothers' recording, called TING-A-LING-A-JINGLE, appears on their album "Together," 2006.

It is the Ames Brothers and one of my favorite Christmas songs. We had it on an old Christmas LP in the late 70's I think.

"Twas the night before Christmas when Santa is near
all the children to dreamland will soon disappear
but there's one little darling who won't close an eye
till you call for the sandman with this lullaby

sing ting a ling a jingle and hold me so tight
sing ting a ling a jingle and kiss me goodnight
icicles on the window and snow on the ground
sing ting a ling a jingle til Santa comes round

It's the same the world over in all babyland
for a smile is a language we all understand
you can pet them or scold them; your patience they'll try
till they turn into angels with this lullaby

chorus repeats

(at least, that's what I can remember)

I have the 45 of this and it was performed by Frank Luther before the Ames Bros. It's a Decca record from probably the mid 1950's.

There are two versions of this on YouTube so one can learn the melody. (search for Ting a Ling a Jingle). Slowed down, it would make a pretty waltz.

TING-A-LING-A JINGLE
Words and music by Vaughn Horton, ©1951.
As recorded by the Ames Brothers.

CHORUS: Sing ting-a-ling-a jingle and hold me so tight.
Sing ting-a-ling-a jingle and kiss me goodnight.
Icicles on the window and snow on the ground—
Sing ting-a-ling-a jingle till Santa comes round.

1. On the night before Christmas when Santa is near,
All the children to dreamland will soon disappear,
But there's one little darlin' who won't close an eye
Till you call for the sandman with this lullaby: CHORUS

2. You can rock them to sleep ev'ry night of the year
Till the night before Christmas when yule-time is here.
They can fill you with laughter and then make you cry,
But your tears turn to gladness with this lullaby: CHORUS

3. It's the same the world over in all baby-land,
For a smile is the language we all understand.
You can pet them or scold them; your patience they'll try,
But they turn into angels with this lullaby: CHORUS

That's probably the same Vaughn Horton who wrote "Mockingbird Hill."
