No Ebbie........At the end of the Alan Ladd cowboy movie "Shane," the kid (Brandon De Wilde) calls out after Shane to return as Alan Ladd rides off toward the mountains. Its one of the most famous endings in Hollywood but also one of the most parodied. I hate it. In an otherwise very good cowboy flick, it just stinks. I want to yell too but more along the lines of "Come back Shane and shoot this little fucker!"

I always just wanted to slap everybody involved with that ending.

But has Shane watched "Shane"?
Maybe that's what happened to the boy. Maybe he couldn't live up to the onscreen image and it just crushed him. Sent him down the wrong path. Twisted his thinking. Rumpled his feathers. Shook his world.
Made him question his basic assumptions about his place in the universe.
Shane, won't you tell us?...Shane?.........Shane?........SHANE?.......SHANE?????

"Shane" has been taken, and is being fattened up by, a star-faring race called "The Greys." He will undoubtedly be eaten. Unless...the "Shane" who nearly perished in a pit of chickenshit on chicken farm outside of Mayo, YT last summer is actually THE "Shane" and in that case he's in a mental hospital in, I believe, SK or MB.

Brandon De Wilde was killed while riding his motorcycle to a play in which he was performing (Butterflies Are Free) in Colorado in 1972....age 30.
