Ray Gravell, one of the great personalities of Welsh rugby ,died earlier this week and his sad passing has had a huge impact across the length and breadth of Wales.
One of the stories about him was that before his first match for Wales in Paris Ray had gone missing from the dressing room and was found in the toilets by his captain John Dawes psyching himself up by singing the songs of that great Welsh folk singer Dafydd Iwan.
Ray is already sorely missed...

I heard a tribute to Grav on the radio
"He will be missed but never forgotten"
I can't improve on that I wish I had thought of it

Don't worry, Ifor - let's keep this thread going to honour a star, a people's singer and a real gentleman. BBC Wales reported that, at Stradey rugby ground, thousands stood and clapped to pay tribute to Ray.

Christy Moore was in Wales last week and wrote :

We used to have a chat at Lansdowne rd every 2 years (before the Wales game). He came to the odd gig and I did a few BBC interviews with him.Out of the blue he made his way into one of the songs last tuesday in Cardiff.I had been ringing him to invite him to the gig and he was on my mind.May He rest in Peace...........Ray Gravell
