06 Nov 07 - 12:56 PM (#2187639) Subject: Tech: Stand-alone program for PowerPoint files From: GUEST,Gulliver at work I've been asked to carry out a presentation at short notice and given a PowerPoint file to use. Unfortunately I don't have PowerPoint or Office on my laptop. Does anyone know of a stand-alone program that I could download from the internet that I could use to display the presentation? I'm running Windows ME on the laptop. As usual, thanks in advance, Don |

06 Nov 07 - 01:18 PM (#2187656) Subject: RE: Tech: Stand-alone program for PowerPoint files From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Microsoft provide (free) viewers for Powerpoint files. The most recent one (PP Viewer 2007) supports all versions from 97 up to 2007, but looks as if it doesn't support ME (only versions beyond 2000SP4, XP/SP1, Vista). The previous viewer (I think!) PP Viewer 2003 handles versions from 97 to 2003 and does work under ME. You can have a look and see if this one opens your file. Mick |

This downloads the presentation with the PP Viewer. This allows you to run the presentation on any machine. Ask them to do it again using the above technique. Then run it on the machine you are going to use with the projector and make absolutely sure that it looks OK, before you go live. Many people have been caught out making a presentation without making sure what projector they are using and finished up with crap slides, becuase the projector is an old one and cannot deal with the latest technologie. |
