08 Nov 07 - 08:36 PM (#2189420) Subject: Yesterday - NERFA Came To Me From: Rabbi-Sol As the chairman and booking person for the Borderline Folk Music Club of Rockland County, NY I receive approximately 5 submissions per week from performers looking to play our venue. Last week I was contacted by a singer songwriter from Toronto, named Lenore, who had previously sent me a CD that I was very impressed with. I wanted to hear her perform live before I could consider booking her. She asked if I would be at NERFA where she was showcasing. I told her that because I am an Orthodox Jew I would have a problem attending NERFA because of kosher food restrictions and performances that would take place on the Jewish sabbath. Since I could not attend NERFA she showed up at my house yesterday and spent 3 hours with us. She voluntarily performed a 45 minute set for just Fay and myself in our living room. Lenore is a gifted songwriter and a fantastic performer. Her songs, although serious, have a refreshing twist of humor in them. The title of her CD is "Another Life". I urge anybody who is anywhere near where this woman is performing to make a special effort to go and see her live. We will be booking her at the Borderline sometimes next year. SOL |

08 Nov 07 - 11:13 PM (#2189504) Subject: RE: Yesterday - NERFA Came To Me From: Rabbi-Sol She performs only under the name "Lenore". For the record, her second name is Elaine but she does not use it when billing herself as a performer. NERFA= North East Regional Folk Alliance, taking place this weekend at Kutsher's Country Club in Monticello, NY. Performers and their agents showcase their talents to potential concert promoters and venues. SOL |
