Hi Everyone,

I've come to a dead end again. I heard a song called "Windy Harbour" performed by The John Wright Band. He said it's not his song but the person who wrote it fell out of my head along with the brain cells the nights beer drinking destroyed. I can't seem to find any trace of the song online and therefore have naturaly ended up in the all knowing bussom of the Mudcatters.

Does anyone know which song i'm going on about and more so does anyone know chords and lyrics?

The song hit a bit of a chord with me cos it's about fathers and sons and would love to learn it :)

Thanks in advance :P

The person who wrote it is Pete Abbott, the guy who plays guitar for him.
He'll be able to supply you with chords if you can find a way of getting hold of him.

This is a transcription I did some time ago. The chords are my attempt and are probably wrong - they're certainly not line up in the right place when I upload them, but I'm not sure the best way to alter this so it is correct for everyone. If anyone's got a better set of chords I'd be grateful.

Windy Harbour
Pete Abbott

C                               G                           Am
I'm standing on the beach at Windy harbour
               Dm                         G
Looking out across the open sea
C                            G                            Am
I remember being here once with my Father
       Dm                         G
On a summer evening 1963

             C                G                   Am
And he said "Son, take a look on the horizon
                Dm                                           G
There's a world beyond I long for you to see
       C                G                     Am
But if you ever sail across the ocean
         Dm                  G                         C
Remember son this day you had with me"
                               G
He said, "Life is a game
Am                   Dm
Win or lose it's all the same
       G                   Dm
You live and you die
                         G
Just don't let it pass you by
                C                Am
You have choices to make
                Dm
You have chances to take
                                        G                         C
You will laugh, you will sing and you will cry
       Dm          G                           C
But don't let a moment pass you by"

So I'm standing here again at Windy Harbour
Looking out once more across the sea
But this time it is me who is the Father
And younger eyes are looking up to me
And I said "Son, take a look on the horizon
There's a world beyond that I have never seen
But I hope one day you'll sail across that ocean
To all the places I have never been"

"You see life is a game
Win or lose it's all the same
You live and you die
Just don't let it pass you by
You have choices to make
You have chances to take
You will laugh, you will sing, and you will cry
But don't let a moment pass you by

Remember, life is a game
Win or lose it's all the same
You live and you die
Just don't let it pass you by
You have choices to make
You have chances to take

You will laugh, you will sing, and you will cry

Spread your wings and you will fly

But don't let a moment

Not one precious moment

Don't let a moment pass you by
