Help needed: alleged Suffolk love song

I am helping our Morris side archivist by digging into the "facts" behind some of the "legends".

I recall being at an event when someone from another side sang what he said was a Suffolk love song.

The verses went something likes this:

I wish I were a .... Tee hee
I wish I were a .... Tee hee
For if I were a....
I'd (something sexually suggestive with true love)

I think the first verse might have been
I wish I were a blade of grass, tee hee
I wish I were a blade of grass, tee hee
For if I were a blade of grass, I'd
(something or the other) my trueloves arse (tee hee?)

Can anyone help me by idetifying the song and providing more of the lyrics?

Thanks awfully.

It also sounds like some versions of Cindy.

I think it went

I wish I were blade of grass, tee hee
I wish I were a blade of grass, tee hee
For if I were a blade of grass, When my truelove sat down, I'd tickle her arse, tee hee.

The other verses were equally unromantic.

I emphasise, I only need more details to help me flesh out an archive on an event when this song became embedded in the team's mythology. I wouldn't dreeeeam of singing it. (Perhaps)

it goes:

I wish i was a blade of grass Tee hee x2
Cos if i was a blade of grass tee hee, my love would sit her arse on me.

It comes from American folk-song related to Cindy as mentioned above.
During the war an American version called 'I Wish I Wuz' got into the charts over here and it could be that that spawned the bawdy song you refer to. I think the Amercan song is also called 'Crawdad'.

If you want further info I could look it up as this is off the top of my head.
